I've been toying around with the idea of buying UV protected fly sheets for my horses this summer to try to reduce sun bleaching.. I'm worried they would be too hot. Does anyone in the LA, MS, AL region have experience? Thanks!

I'm thinking about getting one too to help with our HUGE horse flies here! I'm not worried at all about them being too hot because my dark colored horses coats get very hot from the sun so having something white on them should help keep them cooler. SStack.com has the nice 85% UV resistant ones that I want to order and they are guaranteed not to heat up in the sun.

I tried fly sheets last year. The horse flies got under the sheets and drove my horses nuts. So that idea didn't last long. I was in SE Tx now Im in SW La.

I've used the Amigo sheets and the horse flys do get under them but it buys me a little time in the mornings to get them in the barn. Not sure how hot they are bc I take them off in their stalls.

I really like the ones from ss tack. I'm not in the south but still pretty hot in the summer and my horses looked really comfortable.

I used one for a single day. I think it was named kool kote or something similar. White with a blue thread patterned in it. Horse showed sweat marks through it and it was just too hot! But that is north ms with high humidity too.
