Location: Texas		I AI only…because I pick stallions that are far away and a lot of breeders do not live cover anymore. It is cleaner to AI than live cover, and even though the mare's uterus can flare up with AI and live cover, the chance of infection is reduced because all the debris, smegma, etc doesn't end up in the uterus. (horses deposit semen through the cervix into the uterus, compared to other species who deposit semen vaginally… so say you are pasture breeding…its not very clean. obviously if you are hand breeding you have the ability to clean everything up before hand and reduce the amount of contamination)

not to mention the risk of the stallion to live cover a mare that has an infection that can be transmitted sexually.

If you have the right vet and right breeding facility, it's no big deal. The wrong vet and wrong facility is a complete nightmare.
