I'm on my 8th day of treatment and just wondering if anyone has any success stories using the Oroquin 10. He was a little lethargic the first 5 days, but seems to be maybe perking up lately. Hoping for the best and Needing some encouragement!

I am at day 12 since starting it. During the ten day treatment she seemed pretty tired and like something must be going on and her body must be fighting something. She perked up when I lunged or rode her but when left to be she would nap or just act tired. Yesterday she looked amazing out in the pasture! She was running 9-0 and out maneuvering the other horses and boy can she buck! I had no idea she had that in her!! It was great to see her acting so full of life and feeling good. I haven't seen that type of enthusiasm out of her since last summer. When I brought her in to feed her she looked like she had filled out. I know it's only been a short time but she just looked like she was holding herself better and looked really good. Maybe I'm just seeing things hoping for the best but so far I'm liking what I have seen in a short time. I will continue to monitor her progress and hopefully this stuff I'm seeing isn't just a fluke and she will continue to get better and prove to me it was worth it.

Oh and she doesn't seem to stalk up as bad now either but I have only stalled her twice since starting it but before her right hind would stock up pretty easily and more so then the left and that was also the leg that would sometimes look like she had trouble placing it on the ground. Again like I said I don't have a bunch of proof it is helping yet but those are just the few things I have so far noticed.

I used it last summer on my gelding. There was a dramatic turn around by the 5th or 6th dose from him. What I thought was a nice quiet eye ended up with him just being lethargic from the EPM. They opened up nice and wide and have remained like that since. He also became absolutely full of himself and VERY destructive. I knew it was just the drugs going through his system but he caused $700-$800 in damage. He was also very reactive when I rode him a couple of times after treatment. He has since settled back down to his ole self and is a joy to have. Just thankful that the meds worked.

It is only a 10 day treatment for $150. It is 10 tablets and I just crushed them up with a hammer in her feed and she had no problem eating it right up.

How much is the treatment and how long do you have to give the Oroquin?

The Oroquin I gave was a tube of apple flavored gel. He received one tube per day for 10 days. Followed it up with a jar (roughly 28 days) of decoquinate powder which is the powder form of Oroquin. Between the two, it cost me around $390 to treat him.

This is where I ordered mine  http://pathogenes.com/wp/product/orogin/

I also am supporting her immune system with SmartProtect from Smartpakequine.com. It is a good idea to supplement with vitamin E when treating them.

I am only at 12 days since the start of treatment and my horse had very few signs to start with so I can't guarantee when she started feeling better but yesterday she looked amazng running around and bucking in the pasture! Normally she is very dull and doesn't want to do much. But yesterday she was so enthusiastic and really cut loose! It was great to see! So whether that was just a fluke deal or a sign that she is feeling better I can't tell you for sure. I will continue to moniter her and let you know if I see any huge changes.

He snapped out of the fog he had been in around the 5th or 6th dose of the gel so less than a week. Per the vet's recommendation, he also was given Vit E. For the first two months, he received 10,000 IU's per day. The next four months he received 5,000 IU's per day. I bought mine from United Vet Equine because they were the only place (besides Platinum Performance) that carried a product with high enough IU's. I bought the big containers (5 lbs maybe) of the 10,000 IU's.

I treated my mare in February of 2013. She perked up about half way through the treatment. Her turn-around has been phenomenal. She had been acting scared of EVERYTHING--I absolutely could not have her in a warm up pen. She was prone to random violent episodes of pulling back--especially when being saddled. She was ALWAYS in heat it seemed, and she frequently acted like her feet hurt. Occasionally, she was having some footfall rhythm problems, and get really stiff to one side. She'd also flip her face hard and/or lay her right ear flat back and tip her head to that side. I even took her to the vet and had them look in her ear for ticks, but her ears were clean.
Right before diagnosis, she fell on her face when my farrier put her foot down after nailing on a shoe, then couldn't pick up any of her feet. She then got lethargic in the following few days, and escalated to the stiff legged neurological stage, barely able to walk. She was also SUPER sensitive to touch, especially around her face and neck. Would flinch like an abuse case.
6 weeks post treatment, I took her to a 3 day Barrel Bash. 4D the first day, but felt good, took a full second off the second day to land in the 2D, and another 2/10th off the 3rd day. I was beyond happy. She remained a solid 2D horse, and began frequenting the bottom of the 1D last summer and fall. She is pleasant to be around, happy (for her--she's a brat) and I can tell when she's in heat, but at least the whole world doesn't know it now.
I cannot get her to eat Vit E, so she is maintained on Animal Element Detox and I'm a big believer in magnetic therapy and regular chiro work. She does have a tendency to get locked up in her pelvis and lumbar region, as well as her poll. But she holds her adjustments better, and is much easier to adjust since treatment.
2 weeks ago, I brought her back for her first race of the year, and she ran her first 1D time at a big race. 18th out of 212 in fact. Not too shabby of a success story...

That was one of the symptoms my horse was showing. She shakes her head like her forelock is bothering her and it is worse when it is windy. When she gets really bad she pins her right ear and tips her head to the side and almost freezes up when riding because she acts like something is irritating her that bad that she can't concentrate on anything other than what is bugging her ear. She will almost go backwards and feels like she could go up and over because she gets to tense. That has only happened that bad twice and after some time off though. She never did blow up but it just felt like she was a ticking time bomb but within a few seconds I was able to get her out of it and moving forward again. She only does this when being rode. She is fine with her ears being touched (can sometimes be touchy on that right ear but she gets over it quickly). Another symptom was her right hind foot sometimes looked like it couldn't quite find the ground. Her other symptoms were just over irritability and her eyes sometimes seemed out of it and just acting depressed in the pasture. Otherwise she was still a 1D horse and rode fine. I am hoping this treatment really helps her feel 100%. So far her foot fall looks better and her attitude seems more alert and cheerful.

Valley Vet has Vitamin E by Med-Vet for a little cheaper. They don't have the 10,000 IU but they do have the 5,000 and if you are giving any other supplement with vitamin E it may be enough. Articles I read say to bump up the vitamin E to 6,000 IUs or more. http://www.valleyvet.com/ct_detail.html?pgguid=6c4f8770-6c2f-46c1-9...

Your's sounds just like mine. She remained a 2D/3D horse and was consistant when I'd run her. But looking back at videos, I've picked out a lot of toe stubs and scrambles that I'm now sure were because of her EPM. In hindsight, I traced my mare's back over 2 years pre-diagnosis (and it's not like I didn't have her at the vet trying to figure out what was wrong with her!). She even sustained a fall in 2011that ruptured her stifle, and looking back, I'm sure it was due to her EPM/balance issues. I was lucky she recovered from that in the first place, as it was a 50/50 prognosis.

Yup, I needed enough to get him through that last month because I didn't want to place another order for the 10,000 IU's. The 5,000 IU isn't as concentrated though so it's a different texture and I had a tough time getting him to eat it. I even called MVP about it because I didn't realize it would be so different (missed that word - concentrated - on the 10,000 IU container). Plus, I wanted to verify how much I needed to give to equal the 5,000 IU's. Live and learn, if I ever have to go through it again I'll just pay the extra money. Platinum Performance's Vit E is like 12,800 IU's which was what the vet wanted me to get but I just couldn't afford it.

He went back for a re-check about a month after finishing up the meds and the vet was impressed with the turn around. We were going to re-test his titer to see how much it had improved but she told me to save my money unless I really just had to know.
