LRQHS - 2014-04-01 10:01 AM Oh, don't we wear knee pads or something when we barrel race???
Not if you're one of the cool people.
I do.....but wear them under my jeans so everybody thinks i'm still cool.  Bout to blow "cool" out of the water this year by wearing my helmet just in case I do this.....
Where can you hide a helmet?  Under a wig?  Get a bigass cowboy hat?  Bandana?
With THIS!

You have GOT to have the blonde braided pigtails like Bugs Bunny wore on that super fat horse in Fantasia I think? A must with that helmet.

On a side note- I am loving the shealing wool girths, but I did take advantage of the professional's choice sidewalk sale and got two of the other wool girths they offered for about $24 each. Considering the price of the shearling- I thought I got quite the deal on the others. The shearling is softer and has never galled one of my horses (or even so much as pulled the winter/shedding hair off their bellies).

For your knees- I'm going to ask you to think WAY outside the box. I rode in my husband's trail saddle once. It has the goofy looking metal stirrups that have about an inch of rubber on the bottom of the WIDE stirrup. It was the most comfortable ride I have ever had! The second most comfy- when I forgot my cowboy boots when I went to the barn I was working at and wore my muck boots. I didn't even know I was uncomfortable until I was SUPER comfortable. They even make covers that go over the front of the stirrups that keep your foot from going though. I've seen them for sale in valley vet and jeffers equine I think.

This place is between Opelousas and Lafayette on I49 (I think). I love going there when I'm home for a visit. They have a nice selection of stuff. It's about 1 1/2 - 2 hours from you(?) would be my guess. Nice day trip for you and your niece if there isn't anything @where you live. We don't have any great tack stores near me, so I'm accustom to driving a couple hours to D&D in Seguin for my fix.

^^^ I ordered my slanted wide with rubber on the bottom stirrups from Martha Josey's website. They are great for bad knees. My husband liked mine so much, we ordered him a pair.

I have have ce bell boots that I can send you. They are a size medium, green, blue, purple stripes and have never been used. I have a cj pad and like it ok, I cant afford to buy another wool pad right now so my fatty has to use it right now. You can pick them up used pretty cheap. Would you not stand out in this though! I like mohair cinches, I do have a 30" cj neoprene cinch that we don't use. Don't forget you 5 gal bucket to get on with and to get off. You don't have to buy a mounting block. Most important thing not to forget HAVE FUN!!!!!!!
