Streak has had a busy weekend, but he's starting to look more like a barrel horse every day. We went to a jackpot Friday night, one Saturday morning and then one Saturday afternoon so he has gotten a good taste of life with me in the summertime. He handles everything in stride and is getting the hang of the pattern and his right lead. :)
Saturday afternoon exhibition. This is the first outdoor show we've been to all year. --

Very nice! I'm sure you've posted this before, but how old is he?  He looks like he is coming along great!

Streak is 12. TurnLane rescued him early last year, rehabbed him and I'm the lucky one who gets to teach him to barrel race. So far he is coming along very nicely I think. He is going to Bonus Race Finals as a backup just because I'd rather do an expensive "exhibition" than waste a $40 or $75 entry fee. Plus he helps keep everyone else at the trailer calm.

Matt discovered yesterday that he even likes BBQ potato chips. I just shake my head at some of this stuff.  lol.

Is he a TB or QH? Looks very nice. I remember the post when you went and picked him.

Quarter horse. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/royal+red+streaker
Thank you. He is a total sweetheart and I'm so excited about his potential. We have worked barrels just a few days at home and done exhibitions at 5 or 6 jackpots so he's really only got about 15 days of pattern work at this point. We do a lot of loping circles to get him comfortable on both leads and now I'm working on going back & forth between big and small circles without breaking to a trot. Once he figures out what's expected, he really tries to do it, which makes training a whole lot of fun.
