I hate to complain but has anyone ever had suck a bad start to a year that they just want to give up and find something else to do? I run 3-4 horses at least twice a weekend. I haven't won money since September and I'm not a barrel hitter. Yeah I've hit some but not many. I've had a really bad year since January 1st(literally). Jan 1st a good family friend was killed in a freak skiing accident. Jan 19th a friend I graduated high school with was killed in a car accident. She was the 6th person from my class(2010) that only had 32 people in it to die in some sort of accident. Feb 25th my cousin that we are very close with died in a tragic accident. He had just got back from Afghanistan in September. I just feel like I'm stuck in the same old rut that I've been in and it's not getting any better.

All the time... read your signature "be strong and courageous, do not be terrified and do not be discouraged." Sometimes we need to take a little of our own advice. Everyone has tough times.

I have a suggestion. Read the book Blessing Or Curse by Derrick Prince. It's a life changing read.

You are not alone. At one point or another we all will face a really tough time ... Mine has been recently as well.

Trust in the Lord and know that He's got you - There is something amazing on the other side of all this ...

A couple of verses ...
Psalms 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.

Psalms 46:10 Be still and know that I am God.

Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

You got this, don't be afraid to lay your problems on Him, great things come through the power of prayer :)

I also really liked reading The Purpose Driven Life - It helped me keep things in perspective too.

Maybe you should consider just concentrating on one horse.  Sometimes trying to ride that many can be overwhelming and exhausting (especially if you work full time as well).  Entry fees on that many can be stressful as well if you are seeing no return.  Try just one and see if the pressure leaves and the fun returns.  I felt this way until the time changed.  It was so dark and gloomy all the time, and I wasn't getting to ride much.  This showed up in my runs at shows.  I am still not back to normal riding because of the weather, but at least I have time to ride after work now that there is more daylight.  Give yourself a break and try to enjoy your time with your horses.

I agree with WildRide. Sounds like you have a lot going on, even subconsciously. Maybe just riding and concentrating on one horse for awhile will help 'declutter' the mind.

You can also get it in eBay. Mine was $7. Pigs in the Parlor is another great read. I'm learning so much and it's rally been an eye opener. Definitely read these books if you want to better your life/ situation.

Hanks y'all. I'll be sure to check out both books. I don't think it's neccacary causing meany stress with that many horses because I've ran that many for years. I've ran up to six before. But fishing keeps me sane. It's so relaxing. During hunting season I hunted a lot but since it's out I started fishing. It's been years since I fished like I do now and I had forgot how relaxing it is.
