I been trying to eat healthy due to a good bit of weight gain. In just a few months I went from 124 to 144. I drink a lot of milk so I switched to almond milk. I now have access to fresh cows milk. I would have to milk it but that's fine with me. So is the almond milk better than the cows milk? I've also switch to fresh farm eggs that my sister brings me from there farm ever 2 weeks. I'm open to any other suggestions. I don't really want to diet just eat better and more naturally. I would go organic but for the price I don't think it's worth it.

Is there a dietitian or nutritionist at a local health centre you could go to and get suggestions on meal plans etc? If you can't do that, just stick with whole foods....which doesn't mean all you have to eat is salads! Reduce/eliminate processed sugar consumption and some choose to eliminate wheat!

I wouldn't be scared of the ole natural cows milk.....I can't handle a lot of dairy so I stuck with Almond milk. Farm fresh eggs that's SWEET!!!

The 3 MACRONUTRIENTS are essential for a balanced diet (lifestyle change)

CARBS are not bad unless they are in a refined form....pastas, breads! Carbs are in EVERY whole food we can eat, just the level of either natural sugar or starch determines a high or low value.

FATS are essential part of helping our body function, GOOD fats, oils and foods such as fish & avocados are excellent....eggs too!

PROTEIN is important for our body as well, many forms it can come in just need to find what you like from the choices.

Don't get over whelmed that you must buy every veggies or fruit from the grocery store, the internet is a great resource for healthy recipes...

We don't have anyone like that close to here. Eating healthy isn't whats hard it's the fact that everyone at home eats the same thing and I'm the only one wanting to change. I do better during the day and for breakfast but supper is far far from heathy.

Deer meat(which is better than need) is our number one meat and there's tons and tons of ways to cook it but none are heathy that I'm aware of.

I can try but it will be hard because me and daddy are big milk drinkers. I read about almond milk and it said to get the kind with no sugar added which is what I got but other than that I know nothing about it.

What about potatoes? Are they good or bad? We have them with almost every meal.

This!! I did this and have lost 15lbs since January. I am soooo jealous you have fresh cow's milk. Ever since having access to a dairy cow I cannot drink "store" milk, I am that spoiled. (Our cow passed away a long time ago, LOL.)

Stay away from as many processed things as you can (I do have "cheats" occasionally, and it hasn't really affected my weight loss) but try for an 80%-20% approach. 80% good and 20% not so good. Once you are used to eating this way it's not that hard.

During the day 95% of the time I drink water with tea at lunch. Very very rarely do I drink any kind of sodas. I'm board with plain ol water what can I do to spruce it up but still be heathy? I know you can buy the little pack of like crystal light but they have a lot of sugar but sugar free is nasty.

Guess I never though about people not having access to fresh food. We only get the stuff at grocery store that you can't get from a farm. Except chicken, idk why that is but we do get chicken from grocery store. I live in the middle of no where in south Alabama in a town with a population of MAYBY 1,000. So it's very easy to get fresh stuff. We grow Turnips, collards, okra(which I pure despise) carrots, 3 different kinds of tomatoes, broccoli, peppers, cucumbers, watermelons(not much luck with those) and cantaloupe. If we don't grow it we know someone that does. All our corn, peas and butter beans are bought out of the field every year and put in the freezer. Majority of our meat is deer meat because there are several cuts of meat you can get from a deer(steak, deer burger, deer sausage, deer roast and many more). Dove and quail are awesome too but supply is limited. And of coarse since we are close to the coast we can get fresh sea food.

I've been bored with plain water too. I've been getting these powder packets at walmart, the brand is 'Propel zero' and I really like the kiwi strawberry. They also have the great value brand which is good too, I like the strawberry watermelon flavor in that. Good luck!

I have to go to walmart tomorrow because my phone charger had a short in it so I will look for them. I hate walmart but it's the best there is without having to drive way off somewhere.

Even some of what we call vegtables like butter beans and peas are starchy, not saying not to eat. No whit potatoes, only sweet potates. I also do, the 80/20 we have a good deli down the road i love their steak sandwich, with all the junk. Milk is calorie heavy, try to cut back on that its also makes your stomach produce more acid, it doesnot coat your stomach like many people think.

Try adding some cut up fruit to your water. That would be better for you then the drink packets.

I work at a clinic where we deal with people with alot of food allergies.
I would do a paleo type diet for 3 weeks and then start adding back in food groups one at a time (1-2 week period before adding another) and see when you can notice a difference in how you feel and your weight.

Have you had your annual bloodwork to check your thyroid/etc?  Maybe something else going on...

Also make sure you are drinking enough water - take your weight and divide by 2 and that is the # of oz of water you need minimum - so 144# would need 72oz water daily

Not sure right off how much is in a bottle but I drink 4-5 bottles of water a day. I started that when I started having problems with kidney stones.
