Hubby and I have a regular plan. With the extra $50 for unlimited text and talk, it bumps it up an automatic $50. My phone got run over on Christmas, so unfortunately, used my upgrade and renewed my 2 year contract to get a new one.

The day after Christmas, we heard about the Straight Talk. Too late for me though! DARN.

BIL and MIL both have straught talk and LOVE it. Great reception, good choice of phones for under $100. Easy Peasy. If it wasn't for my 2 year contract, we would change it in a heartbeat. We pay right around $200 for our plan. Hubby has an old "flip" phone. No data package. I have a Droid, with small data package. $200 seems absurd.

I've had my straightalk for 2-3 years. LOVE it! On our trip from Colorado to Florida and back, i didnt have ANY service in most of illinois i think it was. Other then that its fine. I tried to use an AT&T iPhone 3 and couldnt use pic messaging without jailbreaking the phone and downloading a specific app... I just have a cheap Android LG from straighttalk now. lol

I've been on Straight Talk for 3 years or so. You just need to make sure you buy a phone that is programmed for the carrier in your area. My first ST phone was programmed for AT&T. Since I don't live in town, my service wasn't very good at my house, and nonexistent at my work. At home, I had to go stand in the very center of my front yard, or in my master bathroom... Then, I found a ST phone that is programmed for Verizon. I haven't had any problems since. It is the Samsung Centura. $100 and I've been happy with it. But, I'm not super techy. I do my work email, Facebook, Twitter, and a little internet on it. No problems most of the time.

Just switched over to Straight Talk from T-mobile - bought a new phone (Galaxy SIII) and I actually get service at the barn now! However I haven't been able to send picture messages and it's hit or miss to receive them, anyone have any ideas?

No but they have a mobile hotspot.  I have an Iphone 5 through ST and my daughter has a ZTE Majesty, other has a Iphone 4S, and they both run off VZ towers and work great everywhere.  My bill is 46.75 a month including tax per phone.   That said-

Cons- having to buy the phone can be pricey.   I had to pay like 550 for my Iphone, 450 for the 4S but the Majesty ( looks like a samsung galaxy) was only 179.00.  Its an android and does everything our Droid 2's from VZ did.

Aside from the price of the phone? I cant complain about them at all.  I did have to make sure I got a VZ based phone though.  On the box it will say CDMA-V ( I think)  the V means that phone works on VZ towers.   I sold my co worker on ST phones and he got a droid type phone but it ran off AT&T towers and it wouldnt work at all here- so those saying that they have bad service in different places probably had sprint or AT&T based phones.

The mobile hotspot worked great too- you buy the device and buy a card for what you want.  I bought it last week for 79.99 got 1 gb card for 15.00 and used my ipad mini all weekend at Dixie Nationals, worked great everywhere.

If you have any other specific questions feel free to ask!
