| You can breed just about anything, doesn't mean you will get a baby. |

Well that would be one reason I don't breed her |

| Some mares are just fine at that age, and some have lots of problems. What kind of physical condition is she in? |

Location: Sperry, OK | Take her to the vet, have her checked to make sure she is not pooling fluid or have any infections.. and go for it! I will be breeding a 20 yo this year! |

Location: Too far from home | We breed older mares (and many are maiden) often. I would suggest that if you are planning to breed her to see if you can take her to the stallion. We have good success with horses that owners could not get settled when they had semen shipped. The reason is that we breed them more than once per ovulation and monitor ovulation closely. You are much more likely to get a pregnancy that way. Good luck! |

If she's cycling normal (should have cycled this year already at least once), not pooling, in decent shape....etc. you could try. I have a 17 year old maiden that I'm breeding for someone right now and she is not pooling, in great shape, has ovulated at least once and is live cover and we are having to work on her. The vet had to de virginize her last week and give her a hormone shot to bring her back in heat. She's easy to deal with, so that's not bad, but it isn't Wham Bam Thank You Ma'am.....

She's an own daughter of Freedom Flyer, out of an own daughter of Oh My gee whiz on the bottom....I would LOVE to breed her. I'm going to wait until next year, I'll get her checked through out the year and see if she can be bred for 2015!! |
