What brand do you like? What have you found to fit those WIDE (maybe even barrel/round type) horses?

I got a Lisa Lockhart Flex2 Wide barrel saddle for my horse this year. While the leather could be a little better quality, I really like how it fits him, and it fits me well too.

I tried a Crates Meleta Brown and it fit my horse beautifully and the leather was fantastic .... but it didn't "feel" right for me as a rider.

I use Cactus Charmayne James saddles for my wide horses.  I love the flair they have.

I just got a double j lynn mackenzie wide tree.  I like it better for my guy than the lisa lockhart, meleta's wide tree, or the CJ cactus.  All of the those fit his wide loins fair to decent but then sat down lower or too low in the front.  The lisa I would say is wide front to back.  The meleta had fabulous flare in the front, sat more level of the 3 but was a smidge too tight in the loins.  The CJ was good in the loins but really wide in the front sitting down the most and needed a biofit or Ed shim pad.  This lynn sits really level and fits his shoulders and loins just right (best I can tell so far after 2 rides).  If I was building the perfect saddle, I would wish that the lynn had just a smidge more flare at the very front of the bars opening up more for my guy's massive shoulders.  I say all of this to say that all of the WIDE trees I've tried have been a different kind of "wide".

I will agree that sometimes the CJ can be too wide on some horses.  I have a gelding that I need to shim because he has some atrophy and also a high wither.

Mo from Fronterre Saddley made mine. It's a bit wider in the gullet than most but he doesn't change that much. He changes to angle of the bars. Mine is wide and shaped like a barrel and it fits her perfect. His "wide" tree isn't much wider than the standerd but the bars lay much flatter than the standard.

I just bought one of his made like that and it fits my horse great but doesn't work for me.

Did you buy his Fronteere brand or his Circle H brand? There the same trees just made different on the out side. I ride the Circle H in fact all of my saddles are a Circle H. If you bought it direct from him I'm sure he would help you out if you want to try the other.

I'm going to send you a pm Three4luck.

It's tagged Frontier and was custom made for the previous owner. I just got it Monday, rode it twice and that's all I could tolerate. But it's the best fit I've found for my horse so far.

I am close to Double J in Yoakum so I took my horse up there and they found a tree that fit him.  He's very wide too
