| When I had my 7" fitted at bonus race it was explained to me that the rigging can be moved back to help take pressure off the front of the saddle.
My horse was just a little snug in the 7", so the fitter recommended I slide he rigging back one (it made a noticeable difference in the pressure at the front of the saddle) in order to get more mileage out of that saddle as I searched for an 8". I suppose if you had a horse that was muscled oddly or built funny in the front end, legs set back a bit or what not, you would utilize the adjustable rigging in that case as well, but in a well fitted saddle you ideally want the rigging all the way to the front.
That's my understanding, I'm interesting to see if longneck finds anything else out on Friday. |

I agree
I move mine back so it does not tug down on the front of the saddle, but my horse also has a LONG wither. He's a bit odd in the shoulders and it just sits better that way.

From my understanding the adjustable-ness (as in the last slot) is mostly for people who buy Crown Cs and place them on the shoulder instead of behind how they are designed. If you were to place the saddle on the shoulder your rigging would obviously be wayyy off and you'd have to move it back. It is designed to stay in the front position if your saddle is fitting properly. They didn't mention moving it back to relieve pressure as you need to start expanding gullets, but that certainly makes sense to me! |
