Location: 31 lengths farms | Headed out to a race tomorrow, she has put about 40lbs or more on in the last month after starting her on the Equisure. We are just doing the ENC kidney herb, Equisure, and ACV for now with Cur_ost Pure a few days before and after race day. Knock on wood! |

Location: 31 lengths farms | We were slow but clean on our run, realized 1/2 way to the 2nd I hadn't sent her and she wasn't running. Gave her a reminder headed to 3 rd and she was like "well why didn't you say so???" Lol!!! I think we ended up bottom of 3d. BUT she came out prancing, cooled out well, and when she urinated when we got home all looked good:) |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Absolutely!!! As I've said before, slow runs, knocked barrels, ect, those things are easy fixes. Happy healthy horse after the run starts to become the goal, the rest is icing on the cake. This is a picture from after our run and I had walked her out, bright eyed, and sitll sassy <#

Location: 31 lengths farms | so I've been not posting on CC because after a November race went to unload her and she was 3 legged. Not entirely sure when it happened. She cooled out fine, walked her 100+ yards to the wash rack after I cooled her out, had to leave the water bucket going back to the trailer because I couldn't keep up with her and carry the filled 5 gallon bucket. Ran my gelding about an hour later, cooled him out and washed him off. She loaded fine, never felt any movement in the trailer on the way home. Only a 20 minute drive home or so, went to unload and she didnt' want to back out, took one step and held her left hind in the air. NO heat no swelling, hoped for an abscess. Farrier came the next morning and check, no sign of sole soreness and then later that day the fetlock swelled up. Have been alternating poultice wraps and wraps with the Cu horse wraps, also a Bio-scan . She is moving sound in the pasture but there is still some slight swelling. When she goes back in for another bladder check in April we will have it x-rayed and ultrasounded. Until then obviously she is laid off, but keeping up the therapy on it. The good news is she hasn't had another incident with the bladder infection that she was kind of plagued with last summer and early fall. To say I was devastated in an understatement, questioned why God would help us thru something like her bladder issue only to lose her to something like this. Then I realized if not for God helping us thru the bladder/kidney issue day in and day out I wouldn't be blessed enough to get to still have her and be dealing with this injury.
Keeping our chin up. |

Keep that chin up! I'm rooting for you two as are a lot of people here on BHW. You were hand chosen by God to be her Owner/Mom. Everything happens for a reason unfortunately and our job is to find out why things happen. Sending good vibes and prayers your way. Hoping it's nothing serious. Hoping for an easy fix for you. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Thank you. I've kind of been in a deep depression about the whole thing. But then got to thinking about how I had whined about "When will this be over???When will enough be enough already?" wondering about the bladder infection and realized that when it is over, it really means it over. That as long as this little mare is alive there will more than likely be issues, its part of the package. And as hard as that is I'd rather deal with the issues and see that face of her's over the fence each morning. RAn into the lady I had bought all 3 of my horses from about 2 weeks ago. We had bought the gelding as a coming 2 year old and after I started him I fell really in love with him, went back and fell in love with the full sister that had just hit the ground. Stalked her for almost a year and drove into the yard on Valentine's Day to see her standing there. A few years later Dave took me over to their place again to look at a half brother out of the same mare, I walked right past him to a little sorrel mare in the field next door. Turns out she was out of the same mare also, full sister to the gelding that Dave had taken me to look at but she had spark, little did I know how much at the time, LOL!!! Anyway, Debbie asked me if I knew that they had had to have Savannah (their dam) put down, I knew she was starting to decline at 22 when I had last seen her a year or so ago. And then the news that the gelding I had and his full sister's sire had had to be put down also at the new owners place. Debbie was devastated, she said she had gone to see him a couple years ago, at that point she broke down in tears. She said she lifted his blanket and he was a just skin and bones. They had taken very good care of him the first 2 years they owned him, she wasn't sure if their circumstances changed or if they just decided not to spend extra $$$ keeping an aging stallion going. She thanked me for taking good care of ours. Two women standing there sobbing over horses. What is it about these animals that rules our worlds???? |

I wish I knew what it is about them that touches, no, grabs, our hearts and won't let go. . . Sometimes I wish I didn't have that love for them---but then I know I really don't wish that. Sending many good wishes and prayers for you and CC. Please keep us updated. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | I was stilling wanting to pout and have a pity party then heard the news about Sara Rose losing Bling. I'm sure she'd love to have to deal with Bling's tying up issues again, or heck for one more day even. When we started this journey with CC, at the time it was just to keep her as comfortable as we could and as healthy as we could for as long as that was possible. Being able to ride her and being able to go back to the barrel pen was a bonus I had never asked God for those long prayer meetings sitting on the fence watching her, just health and guidance. I've meant some incredible people because of her kidney issues who have prayed for both of us, sent us information, and prayed some more. 3 years this May our journey began. Hoping to be able to continue it for years go come for my sake and her's, but I know regardless of the length of time we have that God indeed heard my prayers and has put His hand on every minute I have gotten with her. CC is a Warrior and God has had to send many Guardian Angels to us just to keep up with her and her antics. Thank each and everyone of you that continues to read her story, send prayers and just help keep me "sane" or clinging on to some semblance of it. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | CC seems to be moving well in her pasture, even catching that lead in the back other day when she was running, few days short of 120 days since she came up lame. Fetlock still tends to swell slightly at times. The mud has started to dry out so will be able to put her Cu Horse wraps on which seemed to help tremendously!!! Can't use magnets on CC or she comes out of her skin, LOL!!! And with the longer days will add the Bio_scan back in also. We decided to have her scoped again in April and will have x-ray and ultrasound done of the fetlock at the same time. She is urinating well, clean and her weight has stayed consistent thru the winter as well, even a wet nasty one. Have stayed on the kidney herb, Green from Cur-ost, though I did switch her to the Pure right after the injury for a month, ACV and the Equisure. And she is as sassy as can be!

Location: 31 lengths farms | Lead her out to graze last night for a few minutes as the grass along the drive way is out of control. Her attention span is all of 5 minutes if she isn't loping so she started being her typical bratty self and I called the grazing session early so I didn't get drug behind her, been there done that, learned my lesson. When I put her back in she put her tail up and took off doing her Arabian on Crack impersonation. She is spot on on that too, can I tell you??? She makes me laugh and smile and crazy simultaniously!

Location: 31 lengths farms | Everyone got pulled out and ridden last night, CC was more than a little butt hurt she didnt' get saddled. She did however get pulled out and got a fresh bridle path and fetlocks cleaned up. She loves "girl time"!!!! When I let her loose she took off prancing just so everyone could see how good she looked, LOL!!! |
