She always helps me get an extra 30 minutes or so of excercise logged according to my apple watch, LOL!!! Whenever I ride her my watch asks me "It looks like you are doing an elliptical glider workout, would you like to record it?" 

This made me smile so big!   She's a miracle girl.  Actually several miracles!!   Love your updates on her 

Today is literally the 9th anniversary of her stifle injury...to be exact 02/26/2011 at 10:14 AM...I think my heart stopped that day at that moment.  But here she is, still beating the odds.

This is what I had written on the 2nd anniversary of that day:

Just a quick update on all the horses...Tucker is 19 this year and is my world, wish every horse was just like him. He makes life easy.  Poopie Girl, the mare with headshaker's is doing awesome, in fact so much so I rode her across the creek a few weeks back to a little gymkhana and after not seeing a barrel pattern in 9 years and me trying to babysit her thru one, she ate it up!!! And remembered the other event we got to stick around for, I was still hoping I was going the right way when she let me know I just needed to put my feet on the dash and enjoy the ride, stay out of the way and hold on.  

Recently purchased a 10 year old gelding to take some runs off the old man and share the everyday burden of keeping me entertained and he has been a ton of fun getting to know him as well as learn to stay on him on his move on the 2nd barrel.

Then there is CC...my SS Wild Child who is still living her best life in spite of everything that has come before.  STill meets me at the gate ready to get her lope on, still threatens to squeak out from under me on trail rides, has no time for walking, basically you walk from the gate to the trailer when you go get her and your other options are trot, trot faster , lope, Lope, LOPE and haul the mail.  With the heat this year I learned from past mistake of giving her electrolytes with sugar in them and we went with the Zesterra tubs instead with exceptional results. She gets her kidney herb everyday, and on a very lose dose of Cur-ost Pure for her stifle and the hind suspensory she injured in 2016 to keep her  comfortable , and ACV.  If this little mare was a human she'd be the most bad azzed Marine the world has ever seen

So glad to know every one is going well- especially CC. Man

she has taken you for a ride! And I know I, for one, learned a lot from you sharing y'all's experiences.

Holy smokes 6 years!!! Seems like forever ago and just yesterday at the same time!!!!  CC continues to amaze me and challenge me every day, LOL!!!   Have a mentioned I simply adore this beast????

I got in the habit of filming rides in the creek after I video'd my "cowboy aqua tread" and a friend of mine that I used to Jr. Rodeo with that is now in a wheelchair got all excited and said she felt like she was horseback again so I started filming short clips every so often to take Dawni with me....

I didnt watch any of the videos but just wanted to say, GOOD DEAL!!!!

This little mare and I have been thru some roller coaster rides together.  I got her , we thought as an unstarted 3 year old, only to find out she had been attempted to have been started (the people were pretty knowledgeable and that is who I got my other 2 horses from also) She was so erratic that they gave up and kicked her back out with the weanlings and left her.  Got her home, she broke with pigeon fever about a week later, got her healed up fairly quickly and then started her. First 45 days were uneventful and then we hit this wall where after 30 minutes or so she was done mentally and would break in 2 if you asked for more, it was like a timer went off in her head, even ground work after the 30 minute mark, she'd bow up and run you over.  The 3rd time I hit the ground off her I fractured my knee cap, broke 5 ribs and fractured my sternum, my husband was ready to send her to a kill plant if there had been any.  I sent her out for 30 days, letting them know she was a bucker, and liked it and was pretty good at it too.  Things smoothed out a little after that, her first instinct then was to run off rather than buck and Ed Wright helped me thru that faze.  Like I said, under the crazy bi-polar, ADHD she was learning everythihg, you'd lope a circle and have 20 steps that you thought "this is the nicest horse I've ever been on" followed by 2 minutes of "what the Sam H*ll is wrong with you???" and back to "the nicest horse I've ever ridden"... Then I read a post by fatchance on here about keeping their feet moving and that was a game changer for us, though we still had a lot of obstacles to climb.  Diane Guinn advice on the fast stop helped tremendously in our seasoning issues on barrels.  We had just really started to put things together, climbing our way up the divisions and then I blew it and went to help my husband back a trailer in "real quick" out in the equipment field, turned her loose for a second and something started her, she took off running and then tried to run between the fence and a tractor hitting her stifle on the blade of the tractor which then threw her up and into a fence panel on the other her opposite shoulder.  Fractured the patella and had a soft tissue injury on the shoulder.  3 months of cold hosing, bio scan, accupuncture, hauling feed and water to her, then 6 months of handwalking then ponying her more to keep her mind in the game and eating.  Then the go ahead to start riding lightly at the walk.  A little over a year to the date of her injury she made her first run back, my heart in my throat the whole time and to top things off picked up a check.  Yes it was deep in the 4D, but more importantly she came out of the pen sound and ready to go again. And 4 months later she ran me across the grass at Pendleton, me babysitting every stride and ended up in the 3D, the next year we ran it again taking a full second off and just missing a check.  I thought we were all set for lining things out and putting things together for the next spring and that was when we got the diagnosis of the bladder stone.  When the vets told me to take her home and put her down when the pain got too bad I think I lost hearing and eye sight for about 3 minutes...somehow I continued to stand but I was not functioning.  We got in the truck to take a drive and think, I had to have Dave pull over as I thought I was going to throw up...I remember stumbling down some sidewalk in Davis CA crying so hard I couldnt' see anything and having to lean against a fence to keep from going to my knees.  As I stood there holding on to the fence I swear I heard God tell me "Quit crying, go home and get better answers". I looked up to see who had spoken it was that clear and I was standing at the fence of a little neighborhood church.  And just like that, I stopped crying and knew if I wanted a different outcome God was letting me know I had to do it a different way.  He guided me in finding those answers, so many people on this board participated in that too, giving advice, praying, cheering her on at each new step. We've had some ups and downs health wise after that, bladder infections, heavy doses of antibiotics, torn suspensory ligament in a hind leg we beleive from over loading due to the stifle.  Not once has this mare wanted to quit me, not an ounce of give up in her anywhere.  She is sound and tears around the pasture like a orangutan but I am leary of running her on barrels again, I'm thrilled just seeing her face over the gate each morning and night, healthy and on 4 good legs so we just hit the trails and thank our lucky stars that in fact, as a good friend said to me as we went in for CC's surgery Nov. 19, 2014 "God's got this!"...

Guess who went and loped thru a barrel pattern at a gymkhana on Sunday!!!!????? Yep!!!!  Our SS Wild Child!!!! Hasn't seen a pattern since November 13th of 2016 when she injured the suspensory and of all things my little free runner half run away now rates a barrel, took me by surprise she almost dashboarded me, LOL!!!!  We didn't set any speed records nor was she the  slowest and the single most important thing is she pranced out like she won the world because in her mind and in my heart she did!!!!!!

My amazing Wild Child ran me thru a beautiful standard pattern a couple weeks ago, middle of the 3D at a decent size 3 day race, asked her to stand up and just cruise the turns at the Friday night warm up race. First time she has seen bucking chutes since July of 2013 and she just went and hunted barrels.  I've been gettng everyone ridden 4-6 days a week and she is thriving on the extra work to say the least.

We celebrated our 15th Anniversary on Saturday.  15 years this little toot has been giving me heart attacks, heart breaks,  and made my heart full  and all of it sometimes within 5 minutes of each other. She taught me the motto "Never Quit" and the true meaning of it. We can't ask for more than that from any of them. 

Here is to 15 years we survived each other and hoping for another 15 to come, just hopefully not quite as "exciting" as our first 15, LOL!!!
