I have a hard to fit gelding and was told to try this saddle. He has high, kinda long withers and broad shoulders. What are your opinions on them? Thanks!!

I have one of her Special Effx by Circle Y. Not sure that helps you though.

Have one for my hard to fit mare & I really love it.  It fits me really well too.  I never had ridden any other saddle but a Allen Ranch which I've had several of them - still have 2 AR saddles & never thought I'd love any other kind as much as I love my AR's (even though the one I had custom built a couple years ago isn't exactly like my older one) but I REALLY love my MM Cactus.  I'd like to get another one eventually.

I have one by Cactus, love it! I have a mare that was hard to fit, she is pretty wide in the shoulders, and every saddle I tried on her  I had issues with, and I tried a lot of saddles.  Finally I tried the Marlene by Cactus and it fit.  I have a few friends that also ride in them and their horses have all been differently shaped then mine and every horse it has fit.  I'd encourage you to try one if you can, I'm very happy with mine.

There has been a few threads about this subject too if you wanna search thru them!  :)  Hope this all helps you.

Wanted to add I ride mine in a 3/4" thick 5Star pad.  Not that I really need one that thick under it but just prefer a thicker pad.

I went through those threads over the weekend and read what everyone was saying... No one around here has one for me to try. I tried some saddles over the weekend and they fit better than what I have now. My saddle slides back really bad and then it throws me forward around the barrels. I've been really frustrated and discouraged. I've never had a saddle that threw me forward, ever, but it makes me feel like I don't know how to ride and of course my horse isn't a fan either. If my saddle sells, I will get one and hopefully it will work.

Thanks!!

I have no idea if they even do this, but I know some saddle companies have demo's that they will send you to try before you buy kinda thing. I wanna say Martin does this, but not for sure. You might try emailing Cactus and see if they have a program like that.

I have the special effects by circle Y also, its an oldie but an awesome saddle, I have had it on about 20 different horses, no problems with it fitting. I have tried sitting in the new once by catus and there is little to compare. If you can find an older one by Circle Y you might be very pleased.

I have one by Cactus and I LOVE it.  Its the best fit Ive found for my gelding, hes SUPER wide and high withered, hollows out behind his wither.  I used it with a Saddleright and it fits great

Check out World Champion Designs. It is Marlene's company.  Contact them they usually have some used saddles for sale and they may have a demo for you to try.  Rebecca is great to work with. she can help you custom build a Marlene saddle.  She is a great person to work with.

Ditto on Rebecca being awesome!  She got me my saddle super quick.  Mine was a really cool demo that she had designed!

They are very good saddles. If if needed a new one I wouldn't hesitate to try one out.
