Writing A Book

I know there are several ladies who are writing or have written books that are being published. I am in the beginning of writing one, I have a few chapters done. My question is how did you get someone to even read the book to be considered for publishing? Do you call, email, visit a company in person? How did you get your foot in the door basically? The genre I am looking into is directed more at Young Adults.
Any advice would be great!
Also who did you get to proof read and edit your books?
Thanks!

I'm no help in this but a friend of mine wrote his own book, if you don't get many responses, I can sure ask him! That's wonderful you've written a book!

Congrats!!! It's fun but it's also hard work. First thing is to look up publishers online and find their submissions page. There, you should find guidelines to follow and also get an idea what they are shopping for.
