Expert Posts: 1218 Location: South MS	I have a 38 y/o gelding - he is starting to drop off weight a little and I want to see if I can add anything else to his diet to help before it gets too hot I doesnt have hardly any teeth so we soak everything - he gets 1/2 scp beet pulp 2x daily with 2 scps 2x daily of a 12% pellet with 5% fat, I am adding in some Chaffhaye as he cant eat regular hay or grass Anything else?

Warmblood with Wings Posts: 27846 Location: Florida..	I would up his fat.. Can you get triple crown sr? its 10 fat.. or ADM is high fat to.. that will help him alot.. possibly if not then alfalfa pellets and soaked to mush or cubes soaked.. and id feed him few times a day..

Elite Veteran Posts: 683 Location: Ohio	Im in the same boat and agree that the Triple Crown Senior is a good choice. Unfortunately Triple Crown dealers have gone extinct in my area and its hard to find. I recently found Sentinel Performance LS at my local tractor supply and really like it. It has 12% protein, 12% fat and 20% fiber and is low starch. It is meant for horses that need higher calories such as hard keepers and rescue horses and is easy to chew, it is also really easy to soak for horses who have no teeth. Its kept my hard keepers and youngsters in heavier training looking good and I feed considerably less than with other feeds. They also make a senior feed but the protein is high for my taste and fat is lower (5 %?)... http://blueseal.com/product/?id=38

Twin Sister to Queen Boobie Posts: 13315 Location: East Tennessee but who knows?!	The chaffehaye will help. My 24 year old dropped off this winter and it's done wonders for him. He was already on alfalfa cubes and beet pulp, rice bran/flax seed. The chaffehaye made the difference.
