Bringing a horse back after stall rest(hot horse)

Ok guys my fireball of a gelding came up lame a few weeks ago and we found it to be a deep stone bruise. He is technically on "stall rest" until friday and then is supposed to be brought back slow in the arena. One problem is that after 2 days of being off he can be a holy terror
(well not that bad
). Now hes running and bucking in his pen every afternoon. He is my first hot horse. Typically when hes fresh I make him work off all that energy but I doubt that qualifies as coming back slow. Some one suggested possibly a half cc of Ace? I want anyones opinion who has esperience with this.

I used Ace on mine, that's what my vet recommended. I had to use Ace when I turned him out, too.

If he will be off for a while you could use resirpine last a couple of weeks.

I'm assuming he's off grain....I would keep it that way for awhile.
I find it's easier to just let them pick their pace while riding. Like if he doesn't want to walk, he can trot. For me, it's not worth fighting to make him walk.....it just makes mine more hot.

Ace is a good idea. I would use more than 1/2 cc though. When I've used half a cc I've never noticed any difference. Half a cc is good for bleeders and to take just a little tiny bit of edge off, but I've never felt it was enough to take the edge off a hot horse.

Can you pony him? You can do this out in the pasture and keep the stress level down. This was how I brought a few hot horses back. All mine pony. Heck, I've been riding my broodmare ponying her 3mo ASOF filly from her. Works like a charm.

I could. The vet reccomended bringing him back in the arena because our hills are all dry and rocky
