Tack - lockable storage at runs without a tack room in trailer

Hi,
I'm just starting out really on my own and I have a small two horse without a tack room area:
(I'm not sure what to do at overnight runs. I don't want anything happening to my stuff. Any suggestions? Trailer is a ramp load open top :
( So if I changed to a lockable escape door they could just lower the ramp or get over the top if I found a way to lock the ramp up. I'm hoping to upgrade eventually but this will have to do this summer.

I would lock your saddle and expensive tack in your truck or get a locking bed cover. I hauled for a long time with a trailer like your describing and there's little you can do to prevent theft if someone really wants in. A locking box large enough for your tack would either have to be loaded and unloaded to haul the horse or it would just provide a neatly bundled package for would be thieves to put in their vehicle.

Homedepot has tool boxes that come in plastic or metal that are large enough to hold lots tack or a saddle. You can secure to your truck bed and lock.
(Pawn shops sometimes have theses as well
)
You can also get a show box from a show cattle supplier that is aluminum but more expensive. you can search for a used one they last a lifetime and hold resale value.

Take in the hotel with you! Or if you are sleeping in truck it stays with you. Definitely can't afford to replace all your tack and safer is sorry. Locking tool boxes are handy and the locking truck bed covers are nice as well.

tool box or bed cover :
)
I started out with an old rusty borrowed bumper pull stock trailer - my pickup has a locking bed cover and that is where I stored all my stuff and was able to lock it safely away!
ETA - the trailer had no tack area.

Find a way to lock a locking tack box
(or something similar
) to the bed of your truck or trailer. My husband keeps his Yeti locked to the bed of his truck and hasn't had any problems.

I locked some show tack in the back of a stall once at a horse show and tied my Rottweiler in with it on a lead rope, even had him muzzled. Came back to check on every thing before hitting the sack. That handsome fellow kept 3 people at bay. He was such a good boy! He even slipped out of his muzzle....oops. Every thing was still there next day.
