Exactly. There are real problems that most people have to deal with, and this just isn't one of them. Just ignore people you don't like. |

Location: South Central Florida | For the most part, I have enough trouble managing my own life, don't really worry a lot about others. I do have my pet grumps, but I try to ask myself "why does this bother you"? Its usually more about me than them if I'm honest. On the other hand, very few of the best coaches in the world, be it football, gymnastics, baseball etc.... were great at the sport they coached. Most of them were average or poor. Sometimes your gift is in seeing and understanding, not necessarily doing. A lot of people that are good, don't have to think about it, it's natural. The coaches are great because they "wanted" and had to think and look hard, which makes them excell at teaching others. But back to worrying about my own life |

I think everyone has an opinion of what classifies one to be a barrel racer - in todays world of playdays, jackpots and rodeos there are many who compete at all levels - and thousands upon thousands of different calibar of horses. In response to the original poster - I myself know of a gal that has never in her life ran barrels but her facebook used to state she was a professional barrel racer and lived to run barrels - she is a novice rider and if she tried to run barrels wouldn't get off a trot - yet will talk down to others because she is "PRO"
As for me - I've won some nicer things back in the day - 20+ years - two kids and many health issues ago - Last year I was able to compete again - it is flat out amazing how catty and rude people are!!! Ok? So I am 40? And not winning 1st place and so I've gained some middle age weight? Why is that your problem??? I ride and run barrels for MY PERSONAL satisfaction - no one elses right? But wow! I heard so many people say things like my horse should be riding me so I don't break his back? I mean I am NOT that fat people! But its the 20 something 95 pounders saying it ??? I hope they get fat when they are 35! LOL (not really)
Good grief! Some people truly just suck at life, I'm so sorry that you were treated this way!
I have two kids, so the core strength and balance are far from what they once were. I had a wreck a while back that landed me in the ER with a concussion and spinal damage, so the confidence is about shot. But I still go when I can, I dang near have an anxiety attack every time I head to the holding pen, but I go, I'm scared to death that I will let my fear of getting hurt again steal my love for this sport, so I force myself to go. I warm up and then I sit in a corner out of the way and ask God to go with me, to just keep my run clean and safe. Every single time I come out of that alley I thank God, and I could just flipping care less what D I land in, I overcame, I'm one step closer to where I was, and where I want to be.
My entry fee may have been more of a donation but that doesn't make me any less of a person, it doesn't make my love for my horses or this sport any less than anyone else's. |
