My trusted trainer has retired.Does anyone have a trainer that they have had good success with and would recommend? I am looking for someone in the oklahoma area. Preferably a professional that does it for a living and not as a side job.

Have you personally tried any of these trainers? I just want to get my money's worth if that makes since. To many times i have sent a horse to training for 60 days and they come back not even really patterned. Thanks for the help! I will definitely look into them.

All of the trainers she listed are VERY well known. Even out here on the west coast. I'd like to throw in 2 more names that I know well, Amy Laymon and Ronny Clampitt. Both are on FB and you can speak to folks that have had their horses with them

You need to state what level of training you want.   Breaking, putting a handle on, starting on the barrels????? That has a lot to do with choosing a trainer.   Also if it is to start on the barrels you need to think about your riding style and who you can ride behind.

I doubt LG nor Sharin would take a horse unless it is a futurity candidate, JMO.
I have heard very mixed reviews on another man listed in a reply further down.

You might go watch them ride and see who all has ridden behind them that may fit your style of riding.

I dont think anyone can top Liana in horsemanship nor knowledge of soundness of the whole horse. Her methods are proven and fair to the horse and client but I think like most great trainers- she likely has a long waiting list.

You might try Susan Clapp? Not sure if she takes outside horses.

I would HIGHLY recommend Michelle Noterman in Purcell, OK. It doesn't matter the level of the horse's training, breaking them out, fixing a problem horse, or starting them on the pattern. She makes sure they have a very good handle and exposes them to a lot. I have personally used her for 2 horses, and I know Monica McClung has sent all of her colts to her to break out before putting them on the pattern.

Liana is also amazing with young horses, and is very helpful even after she sends your horse home.

I believe at some point or another I have used all of them I listed. Sharin is one of my besties. She is great to work with. Yes, her focus is futurity but she trains barrel horses for a living if that's not your goal that's fine. Her goal is to fit you so that your happy. Liana did a awesome job on my colt. Couldn't be happier. I have rode and purchased horses with Add. Chris Martin is not only a great trainer but just a awesome person in general. You are welcome to pm me with any other questions. Thanks

I've never personally tried them but I'm positive with LG or Chris Martin that you would defiantly get your money's worth. LG has helped me just through Facebook messages so that says a lot of him in my option. I met Chris Martin when he was working with Joseys and really liked him.

Kim Thomas- Ardmore OK. Super to work with, returns calls/texts quickly. Easy to ride behind. Bought 3 from her, last 2 she trained & plan to send her another next year! Can't say enough nice about her. All horses were for my daughter who was 10 when we started with her.

I guess Im the odd one again.
I have never had any luck sending a horse to a big name trainer. Been there done that, was not good. I ended up with a crippled, beaten mess. TWICE!!

I have my horse with a BB now and could not be happier, no she isnt a pro that all she does is train... but my horse is not just another number, she is WELL cared for and gets more one on one attention than any horse would at a pro barn.
As a previous poster stated, if you arent in for for the futurity road, you may have trouble getting your moneys worth.
