| I need some help. My mare is not finishing her turn on her 3rd barrel. 1st and 2nd are fine, but the 3rd she wants to shoulder it then take off 3/4 around. we did not have this issue at all last year. This is her 2nd year of competition. I've done tons of slow work and she does just fine doing the slow stuff, even cruising through, she finishes it. it's just when i'm really pushing her she does this. any ideas on what i can do to help her? i ride in a long shank Sherry Cervi diamond lifter. thanks! |

Start at a walk a few time through until she understands the double wrap concept. Then you can bump up to a trot, or trot to and walk around. Double wrapping will help with finishing a turn. |

| I second the lamness evaluation.
If she vets sound including X-rays then I would do a few things
I would first in a competitive run slam her but in the ground on third where she should be rating then proceed to get shape and turn the barrel. If this doesn't work and I know I will get flamed for this
I would make her rate if she is still blowing off I would make her turn it 2-3 times. Sometimes sacrificing a run or two will be most beneficial. For this one you could ask to be at the end so it doesn't disrupt the ground for others. |

| if she's lame or having issues with that left hand turn, wouldn't she have issues with the 2nd? i'm just wondering why she can wrap that one, but not the 3rd.
thanks for all the tips/advice! |

What could be happening that IF she is sore, then she could be anticipating the pain of running home as fast as she can. That's the only difference I see with problems not happening at the 2nd barrel but a problem at the third. Hope you find a solution soon and good luck! :) |

It could be that after the first and second, by the time she gets to the third.. she is hurting. It is possible that she is compensating those other turns too, you just aren't realizing it yet. |
