I won a trophy saddle a few years ago.. and I have to say it sucked big....Β  I felt the leather was inferior quality.... and not onlyΒ was the seat too small for me to useΒ I notice the stitching was inconsistant.Β
I didn't even keep it, but sold it asap.Β Β  For the entry fee money and the amount of rider's the producer pulls in I think they could afford a better brand of saddle.

It has been my experience that many saddle makers offer a line of "trophy saddle" at "good prices" --- and these saddles are never of the same quality as their regular line of saddles. You would think that if a saddle maker is offering up a "trophy" they would want that saddle to be really nice since people will be looking at it... but I guess they think most people are going to just sit the trophy saddle on a rack in the house or tack room to admire -- so they don't put as much into them. I don't know....

I was pretty ticked. Lucky for me a year later a found the same breastcollar on ebay barely used for about 80 and then I replaced all the screws and hardware and now I have a set for parts lol

There is better, and there is worse, some stores over inflate the price, some stores you can get a set for under 300, you need to shop around.

Longneck - 2014-07-23 2:28 PM I will keep saving my money... just had my eye on a set... but after looking at RDC I think I will save up and design something at the NFR.
It's fun designing your own!
I think I have mentally designed maybe 4-5 sets online (I always change my mind!), but I remember walking thru your booth at BBR finals and couldn't believe my eyes... so I'll just go to Vegas prepared to make up my mind and part with my money!!
I'm a distributor for them and don't set up at shows.

They sure put out an outstanding booth! I saw them at Reno many years ago and was in awe and became a distributor.

Would I be able to order from you once I see what I like in person?

I actually bought a plain turquoise gator Alamo set and NTO designed the conchos for me. She sent me a bunch of pics with suggestions and I got to make myself a gorgeous set!  She can really help you out!
