Member Posts: 36	I broke my back a few years ago in an accident and ever since I've seen able to feel it when I ride. (not really all that shocking ;) ) Anyways, it's time for a new saddle and I've been told that treeless saddles and flex tree saddles are good for back problems (humans and horses'). What do you all recommend? Treeless or flex tree? What brands?

A Somebody to Everybody Posts: 41354 Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas	I like the Deb Sibleys, they are a flex tree. I dont have a bad back like yours but these saddles are really nice to ride in. You can call Jimmy at Panther Canyon Saddlery and he will be happy to answer all your questions about these.

Unable to Live Without Chocolate or Coffee Posts: 1849	Not sure my review/opinion will be much help but thought I'd let you know. All I ever rode in was treed saddles. I got a horse that I couldn't find any saddle to fit so I bought an original bob marshall. I rode in it for hours gathering cows and honestly I felt more worn out than ever riding in that thing. It was very secure feeling and comfortable but it made riding feel more like "work" than fun for me. I don't have back trouble though. Yes they are light weight and you can feel your horses's every move - which I credit to making me feel super worn out after riding for it in hours. Maybe shorter rides in it would be ok. I sold the horse, the saddle and switched back to my treed saddles. Hope you find what works

The one I had was the regular fit and it was way too tight on my horse and he bucked for the first time ever owning him. The fenders have 2 ways to adjust them and that is how you get it too fit you were you are comfortable. I will add personally I am not a fan of these saddles but they do work well for people with physical problems and that is huge so I give it kudos for that and I hope I will never have to own one...LOL

Veteran Posts: 268	I love my Bob Marshall treeless saddles. Only thing I ride in. I have bad knees and they really help my knees a lot. The fenders are free-swinging so you have to have a stable leg to ride in one. I find them really comfortable and have less back pain in them than in a treed saddle. It is a different feel. Also I would recommend using a back cinch if you run barrels in it, otherwise the back of the saddle will pop up if your horse turns hard.

There are quite a few out there. Cactus makes the Marlene McRae I'm pretty sure Coats still has one. Double J Saddlery. Reinsman makes the Molly Powell Circle Y.
