For those that run horses fr ther people how do you deal with the winnings on side pots like Future Fortunes etc? What about futurities where the entries are much higher then say just an open jackpot would you still do a 60/40 split?

To Me - The future fortunes, Triple Crown 100 & Wpra PESI  is breeder money, as an owner who nominated the foals years before their futurity/open year I dont pay any of those incentive winnings to the rider.

The ones I know all say it's 50/50 after the entry fees are taken out.  The one i know the best will tell every owner up front that it's 50/50. He's won just about every big barrel race there is out there so it seems the owners are agreeable to the 50/50 deal.

I think they are all a little different.  My daughter has never done bigger shows or futurity...but she has gotten from 25% to 50% and some depends on who paid the entry fee.  We borrowed a horse once...won big money and we split it 50/50 after I took my entry fee's...that was the owners idea.  Other horses she has not paid the entry fee and gets 25%.

Now that's just local and state shows.
