Location: Oklahoma | What are the symptoms and how do you go about treating them if you do have them? I have been having hunger like pains (minus the growling) in my stomach when I'm not hungry. They have been happening ever since Saturday and they are getting stronger. I was doing some reading last night and it said that excessive use of Tylenol like meds can trigger ulcers. I have an Rx for a NSAID that I take before I drive long distances (for neck/shoulder pain induced by driving) and I took one on Thursday afternoon, Thursday evening because it was starting to hurt after unloading and getting a stall ready for a weekend show. I don't think I took one on Friday, but I know that Friday night I took two Aleve and then on Saturday late afternoon I took another NSAID before my drive home. My shoulder/neck feel A-OK, but I'm thinking it tore my stomach up. I only take maybe one of the NSAIDs every other week if I have to drive further than about an hour... not something I take on even a weekly basis and I've taken Aleve frequently before I got the Rx for the NSAID and it never caused me any stomach pains. Our Tums was a year expired and so I took a Peptid last night around 8:30 and was doing okay until about 3am this morning when the pains started in real bad. Will taking an antiacid clear it up or is it something more serious? Any foods I can eat (as in horses can eat hay and help with their acids) to help calm it down?? | |

| Prilosec OTC is the human omeprazole for gastric stuff. I find that avoiding gluten helps keep my stomach issues away. I keep ranitidine on hand for when I know I'm going to eat something that may affect my gut (hot peppers, wine, etc). I would try taking ranitidine twice a day and see if that helps. If not, it may be something more serious like an actual gastric ulcer, and the doc may be a good idea before starting something like Prilosec. | |

Location: Paradise , tx | First, it is best to see a a gastroligist, they usually will perform an upper endiscope I had an ulcer, and you really have to always be careful even after it has healed, so as not to case iritation
Tylenol will not cause ulcers, that is mostly what I take, and tramidol (prescription) Do not take NSAIDS, they will cause ulcers, Asprin and Aleve are NO NOs. If you have an ulcer, when you are hungry, your stomach will hurt more, not when you are full, as some think. Eat something, it will help the pain. Prilsec is what you will have to take to help it heal, it will coat your stomach, but it
will take a while, you really should see your dr or gastroligist. | |
