I have a friend who just bought a 17 yr old son. He has an amazing temperament and was a stud until he was 10. He is a Reiner. Very nice horse, but isn't very interested in running. He travels well and handles change well. He was very workman like since he has always been in a trainer's barn but since he is her horse living at her house and is her special boy his personality is showing.

I've never had one but the ones I've been around have made really nice slow barrel horses. If you are satisfied with a second off horse I would go for it. If you want a 1-D horse..pass unless he is a prove 1-D horse. Never known one to run in the 1-D but I'm sure there are exceptions.

Due to some of those bloodlines, I would make sure he is tested for at least PSSM type 1

I have a granddaughter who is as wide as she is tall and a super athlete. She is a 1D horse on both standard patterns and small which looking at her you would never guess it but she can turn so hard and has quick speed. She is crazy but not due to her breeding she had some bad training early in life. I love her !

I have a son of One Hot Jose, son of Hollywood Heat out of a daughter of Doc Olena. His dam was a daughter of Dash McCall. He was in a terrible accident as a yearling and is breeding sound only BUT that sucker has got all the right moves and is SUPER smart, one of the smartest horses I've ever dealt with.

Have got 2 babies on the ground by him now. One out of a JOH daughter and the other out of a SY daughter. Both are very intelligent, very athletic babies. Time will tell. :)
