Β  This year as been very fun and a huge learning experience. It's had its ups and downs, that's for sure! Unofficially, it looks like the kiddo wrapped up the Rookie title in the Mountain States Circuit. She has one circuit rodeo left and it's a huge one for her because she is on the bubble by about $255 for Circuit Finals. Vegas got sore in her hocks during all the fair rodeos so that hurt because she was just out of the money at about 3 of them. Got her injected and she started pulling checks again. Live and learn, right?I would like to thank PHT Magnetics for their sponsorship and support. We truly believe in the products. They help Vegas tremendously and keep her going down the road, that's for sure! She would be a wreck without her PHT (and Caesar).Caesar....he is the mini pony we bought Vegas. Yes, she has her own pony. He keeps her quiet and happy. He is getting famous and has groupies. Everybody wants a picture with the pony. He can also clear an entire arena full of timed event horses in about 2 seconds flat when he decided to buck and squeal. Apparently most rope horses aren't pony broke. Some of you might remember a discussion between myself and Christy Loflin on here were I had offended her with my comments. I didn't say thus at the time, but my thoughts on the matter were simply this...we all tend to be afraid to try our hand at going pro because on the outside looking in, it appears that the pro girls are always winning and they never make mistakes so how can we compete with that? The reality is...they DO make mistakes. Their horses aren't perfect all the time. They have colts that DO act like colts on occasion. If you have a dream of going pro and believe in your horse, TRY IT! No one should be afraid to chase their dreams because everyone makes mistakes. The top girls go through the same trials and tribulations as the rest of us. The only difference is they have learned from their mistakes and they are seasoned pros so the mistakes they make are fewer.Wish us luck on Monday! What ever happens happens and it was a GREAT season no matter how this last rodeo plays out.

It's been fun watching and tracking Hope and Vegas through their journey.  Way to go mom for raising such a great daughter.  Best of luck to both as they continue on with the dream.

I've enjoyed keeping track of her during the season and look forward to it in the future.  I'm rooting for her at her last rodeo in hopes she pulls a great big fat check!

Β Thanks everyone! When I made this post early this morning, I wasn't counting one girl because I thought she had drawn a check at Pueblo. She didn't. Hope needs just $130 to make it. Nothing like having the very last run be a make it or break it situation.

Β Thank you! I will tell her and we will have to meet up next year. Vegas really struggled finding 1st there. I'm not sure why. She usually doesn't have an issue. She was trying to go left so by the time she found it, she had to make a really long, sharp corner to get to the right barrel and it just messed her up. First time she hasn't licked onto that barrel right away. Oh well. There's always next year!

This is so true. I traveled with my friend over the 4th of July run (she is 17th this week I think) and for a couple weeks after that and I watched more bad runs by those top girls then good ones. The only difference is when they really need a good one, they can make it happen. And that is a very special talent. When they have to run a 17.1 to draw a good check, they can get it done. That is really really hard to do when the pressure is on. Another big thing is they can forget about that bad run and move on like it never happened. You have to be able to do this and not dwell on things that happened in the past. They believe they are going to win the next one. It takes an incredible amount of drive and determination. They also enter ALOT of rodeos for the most part. The majority of the top 15 go to 60+ rodeos which is more than 1 per week and alot of those rodeos are multiple go rounds or have short gos. That is a lot of runs and a lot of tries you have to get it right. There is a big difference in running once or twice in a month versus twice (and usually more) a week.

What you said in your statement is very true. When my daughters were running in the early 2000 they just run local stuff here in Iowa. Now that I look back at what  their times were on a standard pattern I wish we could have afforded to take them to some of the bigger events. I think that there are a lot of people that if they could afford it or had the time could run with the pro's. So many people are afraid that they are not good enough. It takes a lot of dedication to become as good as the pro's. Life just gets in the way for so many of us. I commend you on your dedication as a parent for your daughter to have this chance you are giving her. I tip my hat to you.
