I showed for nine years, but probably can't answer your question... But I probably have connections to someone who can!

So my question would be do y'all insure your show calves? We are looking at getting into Brahmans and they are pretty pricey. I was wondering if anyone has a insurance company they have used?

Liability YES! Its a must

As for mortality, it really depends. The company my husband uses is 10 percent of value. It adds up fast and is pretty unaforadible. Steers are not done. Bulls and Heffers are most at a bit above market value not show prices.

His cow that won calgary for him is currently the only cow insured and Im not going to renew it shes OLD lol. The bulls are insured for mortality and broken legs / boy parts.

Also theres a blurp in the paper work if the aminals die of overload or feed related death the policy is void.

Thank you ! I wasn't sure how everyone did it. We have some expensive bulls we use in our commercial herd not insured but these girls are traveling 1200+ miles just to get here so I would like to get insurance atleast for a few months. What company do y'all use?

Thanks !
