Own It and Move On
Location: The edge of no where | I didn't watch, but had a friend tell me the winner was in bad bad shape right after..... WHEN are they going to put some $$$ into better tests for these horses? I used to love quarter horse racing, it's going to hell.
http://www.paulickreport.com/news/ray-s-paddock/all-american-futurity-winner-stablemate-in-distress-after-wins/All American Futurity Winner, Stablemate in Post-Race Distress JM Miracle won All American Futurity, then was vanned off in distress JM Miracle, winner of Monday’s $2.6 million All American Futurity at Ruidoso Downs, was vanned off the racetrack in distress, suffering from an unknown internal ailment immediately after his half-length victory in Quarter Horse racing’s most prestigious event. One hour earlier, JM Specialwynn – owned and trained by the same connections as the All American Futurity winner – was in similar condition after crossing the line first in the $100,000 All American Juvenile Stakes. JM Miracle and JM Specialwynn race in the name of Javier and Elsa Marquez’s J & M Racing and Farm of Monahans, Texas, and they are trained by Umberto Belloc. “Both horses were in bad shape post-race,” Vince Mares, executive director of the New Mexico Racing Commission, said Monday night. “I just got off the phone with the state vet and he said they are OK now. But the vet said they were in bad shape when he first saw them. We did get blood samples from both horses prior to them being treated and we will send those samples off to UC-Davis (the Kenneth L. Maddy Equine Analytical Chemistry Laboratory at the University of California-Davis, New Mexico’s official testing lab ). “We are going to see how the samples come back,” Mares added. “It is very concerning to us.” UPDATE: On Tuesday morning, New Mexico Racing Commission veterinarian Dr. David Fly reported to Mares that both horses “seem to be OK. Dr. Fly had the horse (JM Miracle ) two hours in the test barn and couldn’t get any urine, but we did get the blood before the vets treated him.” Both JM Miracle and JM Specialwynn were previously trained by Jose Luis Muela, who was suspended July 1-Aug. 30 for a medication violation after one of his horses tested positive for clenbuterol in April. In July 2013, the Quarter Horse Cartel Quick was euthanized after being stricken with kidney failure after winning the $750,000 Ruidoso Futurity at Ruidoso Downs. No illegal drugs were found in his system. The incidents involving the two Labor Day stakes winners came shortly after Lincoln County police arrested jockey Raul Valenzuela as he was preparing to ride Apollitical Blood in the All American Futurity. Valenzuela had been summarily suspended by New Mexico Racing Commission stewards after allegedly being caught with an electrical device during the All American Futurity Trials in August. The New Mexico Racing Commission beefed up security during the trials, with special emphasis on the starting gate, Mares said. “Agents witnessed him with a machine and it was confiscated,” said Mares. Valenzuela obtained a temporary injunction from Lincoln County District Court Judge Karen Parsons, however, putting the suspension on hold and allowing him to ride in the All American – at least until the police got involved. Omar Reyes substituted on Apollitical Blood, who finished fourth in the All American finals. Mares said the racing commission was not involved in the arrest and he had no further information about Valenzuela being taken into custody.

| So sad. We were not there this weekend, but I have seen more horses hauled off the track up there this year than in years past. They need to get something figured out! | |

I, absolutely, love it and nothing get's me more excited than one of mine racing, BUT.....this sounds too fishy and I'm tired of reading stories like this.

Location: The edge of no where | I hate it. I LOVE a good horse race. It's just awesome to watch one you've worked and worked with win one.
I DESPISE what scum like this are doing to racing. It's going to take more $$$$ into better tests to make it stop. Both of these horses were ruined yesterday.

Location: The Oklahoma plains. | The profit unfortunatley is in the winning and not in the catching of cheaters so the chemists are profiting from the cheaters vs the racing commissions. It has been a century old battle of staying a step ahead of the testing process. And the program trainers contribute emmensley to this epedemic.
I was hoping the horse was just tying up- I didnt see the consolation horse vanned off nor the AA Winner- I went outside after they crossed the wire. It is so sad. The corruption sickens me for the reputable breeders, trainers and mostly for the noble creature- the horse.

He didn't even say a jug, which would have been more believable. He said, he just drank some water.
I'm right there with you. I don't think enough is being done. I can see a horse tying up. I can see it happening to one horse.....but, two from the same owner, in two huge races. I hope they figure this out.

Location: DUMPING CATS AND PIGS IN TEXAS :) | "He was real tired when he arrived to the test barn, but once he got some water he was fine. He is going to be fine, and we are very happy the horse is doing much better," Marquez said late Monday. One hour earlier his stablemate, JM Specialwynn, also owned and trained by the same connections as the All American Futurity winner, suffered from a similar condition after winning the $100,000 All American Juvenile Invitational at Ruidoso Downs. JM Miracle and JM Specialwynn both race in the name of Marquez’s J & M Racing and Farm of Monahans, Texas, and they are trained by Umberto Belloc.

Jockey Raul Valenzuela Arrested While Preparing For Monday's All American RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—SEPTEMBER 1, 2014—Jockey Raul Valenzuela was arrested and removed from the jocks area just before the Grade 1 $2.6 million All American Futurity on Monday at Ruidoso Downs for unkown reasons. Valenzuela was suspended by the Ruidoso Downs board of stewards earlier this month according to the New Mexico Racing Commission for allegedly possessing an unlawful electrical device. Track officials were unavailable to comment on the sudden switch in jockeys. Apolitical Blood finished fourth under replacement jockey Omar Reyes. Twenty-year-old Valenzuela could face a lengthy suspension and possible loss of his license for the alleged possession of the unlawful electronic device.

Location: The edge of no where | I've never seen a horse that 'just needed water' be bad enough to van off the track...... no win pics. There's so much cartel $$$ going into racing that I don't know where they would even need to start to clean it up. It's just sad.

Location: The Oklahoma plains. | I will say I have seen a horse tyed up so badly that they could not move- I have seen it at playdays, rodeos and of course the track. And they would not drink even when drenched. But obviously, this smells rotten given the past trainer of the horse, the other horse and the current trainer.

A vet saying they both were in "bad shape" after their races....hmmmmm. And, yes, having worked in the Emergency setting for years (with people) (but you get my point here). I have never had anyone in "bad shape" that I just gave some water to and brought them right back around. Ummmmm.....yes, drink this gallon of water and let's see if you get better, shall we?

RUIDOSO DOWNS, N.M. β Jm Miracle completed a memorable afternoon for owner J&M Racing and Farm and trainer Umberto Belloc when he won the Grade 1, $2.6 All American Futurity before a record 24,778 fans on Monday afternoon at Ruidoso Downs.
Two races earlier, the same connections won the $100,000 All American Juvenile with Jm Specialwynn.
Jm Miracle got a clean start from the third post position and was immediately racing with the leaders. He took command at the halfway mark and none of his rivals were able to mount a serious challenge while he went on to win by one-half length.

βHe warmed up pretty good but he was a little excited in the gate, turning his head and looking around,β said Sanchez βWe got him settled down and he got quiet. He broke decent β he didnβt break in front, but he went to running, I switched (sticks) and we got the lead about the middle way. And after that he finished strong.β
He was distressed after the race and given a ride to the barn in a van as a precautionary measure after being cooled with water. βHeβs tired, heβs exhausted,β said Belloc.
Mad About The Moon was second by a neck over Sam Crow.
Jm Miracle, with Ramon Sanchez aboard, was timed in 21.380 seconds for the 440 yards. Sanchez won the 2009 All American Futurity on champion Runnning Brook Gal and the 2012 All American Futurity aboard world champion One Dashing Eagle.

For trainer Belloc, he won the All American Futurity the first year he qualified a horse for the classic. He also qualified This Fire Is Cold. βI donβt know if I can describe this; itβs so good. I wish everyone who does what I do would win it once in their lifetime, itβs a great feeling,β said Belloc.
A $40,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale purchase, Jm Miracle was one of only two horses to qualify for the Grade 1, $700,000 Ruidoso Futurity, the Grade 1, $900,000 Rainbow Futurity and the All American Futurity. He finished a fast-closing second in the 350-yard Ruidoso Futurity. The other horse to qualify for the three futurities is Bodacious Eagle, who finished fifth in the All American Futurity.

Jm Miracle, a son of Volcom, reached the All American Futurity finals when he was the fourth-fastest qualifier on the first of two days of trials. The horses with the five-fastest times on each of the afternoonβs 14 trials qualified for the All American Futurity.
This feeling I have right now is something I cannot describe.β said owner Javier Marquez.β This is a very well-bred horse. I always believed I would win the All American one day. It was my dream and I never wanted to quit until it came true.β
David Valdezβs runner-up Mad About The Moon, a $5,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale purchase, was the only horse in the All American Futurity who did not win his trial. He finished a nose behind Bodacious Eagle in their trial and had the fifth-fastest time of 21.442 on the second day of trials. The First Moonflash gelding won his maiden two starts ago at Ruidoso Downs.
Terry Baberβs Sam Crow, a $40,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale purchase, grabbed third-place for trainer Blane Wood. The consistent gelding by Valiant Hero was second in the Ruidoso Juvenile and then won his Rainbow Futurity and All American Futurity trials.
In the $100,000 All American Juvenile, with two-year-olds who did not qualify for the All American Futurity preferred, Jm Specialwynn found an opportune time to win his maiden in his third start.
The Sergio Beccera Jr.-ridden Jm Special Wynn got a clean start with a clear path and showed that 440 yards could be his best distance. The Walk Thru Fire son finished strongly to win by three parts of a length with a :21.523 time for the quarter mile.
Outta Texas was second, a neck ahead of third-place finisher Stone Cold Diamond.
Jm Specialwynn, an 8-1 longshot, was seventh when he made his career debut in the trials to the Grade 1, $700,000 Ruidoso Futurity and was then second by one-half length in his All American Futurity trial.

Location: Online | These guys will do whatever it takes to win. They don't care about the consequences. They will pump whatever they can into a horse to make it run faster and harder. I think 440 is too far for a 2 year old, with that much money at stake, anything goes. The horse be d@mned. JM Miracle is a gelding, there is little chance of getting any more money out of him after his career is over. If they can get their million, that's all they care about. A horse to these guys is just a tool. They have no feelings what so ever for him.
Just to clarify so I don't get attacked by those who take offense.... I'm not saying all owners and trainers are that way. Our horses are like our kids. If they don't feel good, they don't run. It just seems like a certain group of owners and trainers don't give a d@mn. It's all about the money.
