Just a reminder to everyone that September is Ovarian Cancer awareness month. As a going on 7 year survivor it's important to take you womanly health to heart and get all the lady parts checked out. I spent my 31st birthday in Rochester, MN at the Mayo clinic having had a complete hysterectomy due to a grapefruit sized tumor. I had no indications and the only way we found anything out is because we hadn't had kids yet and I was going to start the first steps of fertility. My doc. felt something and then an ultrasound found the something and I was referred to Mayo systems by my OB/GYN as he didn't feel comfortable dealing with it. Talk about a complete shock, no preperation nothing...just waking up to the news that it was more serious then was first thought. So this is a reminder to all of you women and men to make sure you are getting your health checked at least yearly. Also Teal is the color of the month.

Thanks for the reminder! My best friend found out last August she had
Ovarian cancer. She found out during a hysterectomy. She finished her
Chemo in February. So far so good.

I didn't know that September was ovarian cancer awareness month. My grandmother passed away from ovarian cancer in her 70s. she had a 13 year battle with it and MD Anderson gave her precious years with us. I miss her every day :

My mother died from this some 36 years ago, it was needless as the docotors missed classic symptoms. She had gone to several doctors for about 2 years before she found out. Then about 18 months later her mother my grandmother died of a cancer that was far advanced when she found out and never knew where that started. I was glad when i found out i had female problem, i told then to,take it all out. I went into surgery for fibroid tumors, i,had a endometrial cyst and the doc said the worst case of endometriosis hemhad ever seen, he said both ovaries had terrible scarring and he said he scraped and scraped for, ever. I really think that surgery saved my life, all that endometrial tissue and hormones no one couod tell me that would not turn into cancer. In fact the doc always told being thin theynwould be able to tell if anything was bad it is easier to tell. imhad 2 or,3 vaginal ultrasounds, it only should a couple of,fibroids. I just glad i did it and dont have to look back.
