Location: The Great West | Looking for a new saddle and found a reasonably priced cactus that sounds like it will fit my needs. With all the buzz about the crown c and pozzi's I was wondering what everyone thinks about the cactus? |

Location: Riding Crackhead. | I own 4 Cactus saddles. 3 CJ's and 1 Brandi Halls. I love my CJ's....the Halls has a 7" gullet but the bars are real straight and it doesn't fit a dang thing we own. Prettiest darn saddle we own though. |

Location: The Great West | Buckles - 2014-09-19 5:38 PM I love mine, unfortunately my horse doesn't! Its just too wide for him, so I have it up for sale right now. Fits my husband's horse great who has a much wider barrel. Its a Chamayne James, they are definitely well made saddles.
Get me the 411 and pics, I might be interested! |

Location: MI | We have 2 Cactus trophy saddles from NBHA. Will won the first one and he likes it so much that his Caldwell Rocket sits in the tack room and he runs in the Cactus now. Sits very similiar, yet almost 10 lbs lighter. Mine has the upgraded wide tree and its too wide for the colts. I use it on the aged horses and even then will have to pad up to some of them. |

I had one of those trophy saddles too; I won it at our NBHA state finals and rode it once for about 5 minutes. It killed my hips, the seat sat way too wide for me. Fit a wide horse well tho. I finally sold it to someone looking specifically for one of those saddles--apparently some people love them. |

Location: Minnesota | I have never owned a Cactus that I didnt love. I have had the CJ, the Brandie Halls and currently own a Marlene McRae. I LOVE them. They are great quality, and I think they fit horses well. I will say that the ones I have owned have all been WIDE trees, as my horses are massive, and I now have a 2 yr old that my McRae is too wide for, but Im hoping she'll eventually grow into it. Id buy one in a heartbeat. That being said I cant stand the way the Crown C's fit me (personally) so I won't even bother trying one on my horses, and the Double J's Ive had were less than great for fitting... |

Location: Kansas | I won one at Bonus Race Finals last year and have been disappointed in it from the beginning. It's a beautiful saddle and pretty darned comfortable to ride but it does not fit the horse I ordered it for, even though I contacted Cactus and told them that was priority #1, 2, and 3. Even sent measurements from the Circle Y saddle that does fit Cliff. The gullet isn't high enough, the seat isn't as deep as I need on him, and I think it is even a little too wide. I'm currently using it on Streak and Joker, but I don't love the fit of it on either of them. It stinks to have a $1200 trophy saddle that isn't usable on the horse that won it, but I don't think I could ever sell it because of the sentimental value from winning it on Cliff's 14th run ever. |
