| My SO and I are going to Gatlinburg for our honeymoon in a couple of weeks. We have both been before, however we have pretty much just stayed on the "strip" when it comes to things to do and places to eat. What are some things we should go and see? We definitely want to go to the Dixie Stampede one night, but that's the only thing we can really think of. I don't want to eat at places that we have at home. I want some things that aren't so "ordinary."

Location: EDGE OF INSANITY | Ahhhh! Jealous! I LOVE Gatlinburg! Cades Cove is one of my favorite places to go. Hilbilly golf was fun too-you take a lift up the side of a mountain and putt putt your way down. |

Location: My happy place | We really liked the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail it's like a trail ride in the car. it's one way and I don't suggest taking a dually. Sorry it's not a place to eat but it was my favorite thing and it was free.

We loved Cades Cove! It was a wonderful private ride and we could take our time....take a picnic type lunch with you for this! |

Location: East Tennessee | I'm only about an hour from there. Eating wise, I love Huck Finns. But of course I can't pass up Joes crab shack and definitely can't pass up Dixie Stampede. BEST FOOD EVER!!! |

| Calhoun s is amazing and very reasonably priced! J.T. Hannahs is also amazing! Log Cabin Pancake House would also be awesome for breakfast! French toast royale is the best french toast ever. Lol. We love that area. Definitely go to Cades Cove if you like any type of outdoorsy stuff. So peaceful and don't expect to have cell service. |

Location: Foot of the Smoky Mtns, East Tennessee | Congratulations on getting married! This is where we live. We can be in downtown Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge in just a few minutes (even with all the crazy traffic). Welcome to the Smoky Mountains! Definitely drive the loop around Cades Cove and be sure to get out and look at the Cable Mill and visitor center, all the old homesteads and churches (and graveyards) on the Loop. You can get one of the loop maps at any of the the visitor centers. I can even mail you one ahead of time if you'd like. One of the houses on the loop "tour" was my husbands great uncle. He was one of the last people that lived in the Cove and most of his family and some of mine are from the Cove. We both have family buried in the cemeteries at the churches. It all really takes you back to "Little House on the Prairie" days. There are also short hikes you can go on up in the cove (couple miles or so) that are easy to do that lead to waterfalls and stuff up in the Cove (you can get a map for those too). They have horseback riding in the Cove and you are sure to see bear, deer, etc. You can literally make a whole day just in Cades Cove if you like to relax and enjoy history and beautiful scenery. There are picnic arenas next to the water on up just a bit (our favorite is the Chimneys area). They have grills set up at most of the picnic sites. If you like to Gamble or Indian history and heritage then Cherokee, NC is just right over the hill on the other mountain. I'm sure there's more I'm not thinking of so early in the morning. Be sure to look up the Great Smoky Mountains website. It might have some stuff on there too. I will add more as I think of it. If you have any questions just ask! Location: Memphis, TN | We went in June and stayed in the park at Elkmont. We had our kids so a lot of our hikes had to be easy enough for them. We did Clingman's Dome (wear pants and a jacket!), Newfound Gap, Laurel Falls, Mingus Mill, Oconaluftee to Cherokee (you can see elk there we didn't have the extra day to go to Cataloochee), Ripley's aquarium, and as others have mentioned Cade's Cove. Cade's Cove is insanely gorgeous. We are going back for a long weekend not this weekend but the next. I'm hoping the fall colors are moving in already. As stunning as it is in spring I have heard it is breathtaking in fall! Oh and we went and ate at the Apple Barn when we went into Gatlinburg for the aquarium. We prefer more nature/hiking than shopping so we only spent about half the day in town. There were two hikes I wanted to do but can't remember the names of them. If you like hiking I can pull out my book and see what they were. They were too advanced for the kids so I made note for when we could come back without them. You will love it there. That area is really nice no matter what you like to do. |

Location: The birthplace of Honest Abe | I liked the food at Hatfields and McCoys although I really liked the show at Lumberjack Feud. We always stay in Gatlinburg so we can walk the strip at night. I like going to the small the small shows they have LOL. |
