I have a pair of Softride boots, can't remember when I purchase them.  They have developed big cracks and some pieces have broken out of the big rubber bottoms.  I really only use them in the trailer.  Guess I was kind of surprised the bottoms broke apart/down like this.  Is this what happens when they wear out?  Anyone else have this problem?

I had the same thing happen to two pairs! I called the company and was told I was sol, I also posted pics on here and was flamed for "not properly taking care of them". They were only used in the trailer and were kept in a fabric bag when not used. Mine were only a little over a year old and used sparingly. They look like they dry rotted and fell apart.

I usually wear out the sides of the back part before the bottoms. Chance has completely worn one pair out (they lasted him about 18 months and he wears his Soft Rides a LOT) and his second pair has been handed down to Joker who doesn't travel as much in hopes that I can get 2 1/2 years use out of them (will be 2 years this November). The newer ones seem to have tougher fabric so they're holding up a lot better. I think I do have one pair that the bottom is cracked a little but I'm still using them. If I could figure out how to repair the fabric that goes behind their heel, I'd still be using the very first pair I bought.

I have to marvel, rant and rave on Softride's customer service.  A new pair of boots unexpectedly arrived on my doorstep yesterday!!!!!!  Now that is standing behind your product!  These boots are worth their weight in gold for horses's with feet issues, or for that matter... any horse.  THANK YOU SOFTRIDE!

You can't beat their customer service.

I am not sure why there are some folks that have problems with the boots.  I wonder if its like anything else, you always get that one batch or one pair that is defective?

I've been using the same set of four on my horse for over two years, and have used them many many times for turning out horses with a missing shoe or abscess, and the bottoms look great.  There are some minor tearing in the fabric and I'm pretty sure by Soft Rides standards, that the inserts are wore out :

But they are still going strong.

TBone...does your horse paw a lot do you know?  After two years the bottoms of mine are not smooth like yours.  I am very happy to see they replaced them!

Wow that was really nice of them. Wish I would've gotten the same treatment since I had TWO pairs that fell apart!

You absolutely can't beat Soft-Ride's customer service!

Does this horse paw by any chance? The wear pattern makes it look like that may be an explanation.  I have had mine for about 2 years now and they are really only used in the trailer and the rubber is still in great condition, barely any wear.

I have three pairs that are fairly old (over 3yrs old) and they are all in pretty good shape. The velcro and the top part is kind of tearing here and there but the bottoms are good. But I'm sure just like with tires on a vehicle some are defective. Yes it could be from the way the vehicle/horse wears them but sometimes is just a defect.

No, my horse doesn't paw (at least not that I know of).  He may have pawed some in the trailer but not to excess.
