Location: Southeast, Texas		Our horses are on a worming rotation, and we pull fecals yearly. This year ours were both loaded with strongyles even though they had gotten the recommended medicines, at the recommended times. Our vet advised us to power pack them both and treat with ivernectin afterward.

Your rotation may be contributing to the worm load. Administering dewormers that the horse doesn't need is why there is an increasing resistance of the worms to the drugs used to eradicate them.

You should do your fecals, and deworm according to the worm load detected, and then for any that wouldn't show on the fecal or based on the time of year. For instance, bots wouldn't show on a fecal, but are prevalent in the fall. We administer Equimax in the fall, even if the fecals were clean, because bots wouldn't show on the fecal anyhow.
