Born not Made Posts: 2926 Location: North Dakota	I tried a pair of BOT hock wraps without holes earlier this year, to use with my quick wraps. My horse's hocks are fusing and I thought it would be better "coverage" to have the hole covered. He HATED them. Almost fell down actually because he'd try to lift both back feet at the same time because something was on his hocks. I tried them for a few minutes but then took them off because I didn't want him to hurt himself. Never ever had any trouble with leg wraps. He tolerates those just fine. I wonder if he would do better with the wraps WITH the holes? But would I lose some therapeutic effect? Thoughts? Anyone have a horse that hates hock wraps?

Expert Posts: 1538 Location: South Dakota	My horses acted the same way. I think they just did not like anythinig on that area since they have never had anything on before. I don't think it had anything to do with the fact that it was BOT. What I found is that if I put them on and then walked them around until they got used to them that they stood fine with them after that. I have the padded ones.

The Advice Guru Posts: 6419	Had a gelding that despised his bot hock wraps mine had the holes. A friend who is an animal communicator said the bot hock wraps make his legs tingle as asleep. Magnetic hock wraps he would stand normal, bot hock wraps he would cross his back legs to rub them off.

Scorpions R Us Posts: 9585 Location: So. Cali.	I have the padded one. I have one mare who you could put just about anything on and she doesn't really mind. Then I have another mare who stands nicely for me to put them on her, walks around funky with them, and as time passes I usually find them down around her ankles, no matter how many times I adjust them. She kicks out til they slide down.

I'm Cooler Offline Posts: 6387 Location: Pacific Northwest	I have the kind with holes and I've used them on 3 different horses with no problems. I don't think it's the holes or lack of, I think most horses just aren't used to having something up that high.
