Never ever got one! I think they're poison and I have not had the flu in 13 years!! I think it's something your body needs to fight of to build immunity.

DING DING DING!!  What good is the shot if there are only only certain strains that are in the vaccine? You can put that crap in your body, I'm not. If I get sick, oh well.

What good is it??  Well its good for the strains they decide are most likely to be the primary causative agents that season and that they know can formulate a good match for in a vaccine.   Sometimes the forcasts are off...they just make the best decision they can from the data.  You can read about it here if you like:  http://www.cdc.gov/flu/professionals/vaccination/virusqa.htm

We all put "crap" in our bodiues on a daily basis...by choice or just in the course of what we choose to eat/drink/smoke etc.  At least in this case I do so knowing exactly what is in the vaccine....not so much that hot pocket I just ate for lunch.  I didn't bother to read the box.

Here is a good blog post to debunk some myths.  I sincerely hope NONE of you or your family members get sick.  Wether you are in the YES to vaccine group or the No way in Heck group.  It's a personal choice.  I'm just trying to offer some science based facts to counter the anecdotal evidence.

Thanks for adding some real data... kudos for fighting the good fight.

I had never had mine but had to get one for work.. It was covered by my insurance so why not right?

About 5 hours after my shot I noticed I had a fever and I developed a migraine... They both lasted for three days. I'm perfectly fine now a week later. I see no difference in getting one and not getting one.. I don't really have an opinion on them... Next time I think I'll just take my chances and avoid getting a fever and migraine. Unless they're a have to at work again.

Likety like!!! I heart scientific evidence. Thanks for sharing.
No one is going to convince me that the flu shot is a good idea. Like I'm going to believe anything the CDC says these days anyway. My experience with it is all the evidence I need.

There is also "scientific evidence" for global warming.

Got mine yesterday. Feel great. The last time I had the flu was in 1978. I was too sick to even get to the Dr. had to have someone drive me. I DO NOT want the flu again. I have gotten one every year since. Got my pneumonia and shingles shots too. I am old but in good health and plan to stay that way. The pharmaceutical companies do the best that they can in predicting what strands of flu will be most common.

Might add that a school district that I worked in several years ago insisted that I get the series of hepatitis shots which they paid for. You might want to check into that if you work with the public.

I have been getting the shot yearly for 25+ years. Haven't gotten the flu in all that time....might be a coincidence - but I doubt it.

I have to get one every year as I don't have a choice being in the military. However I don't think they make a bit of difference. I have only seen negative outcomes from the flu shot. A Marine I work with has been dealing with bells palsy (facial paralysis) ever since he got vaccinated.

i have NEVER had one nor will i EVER get one!!! My nephew was a star football player at 16 yrs of age in high school and he came home from school one afternoon and told my sister his feet were tinglely. He was just getting over a simple cold. By the next morning she took him to the dr and he was sent on to childrens hospital. Within 24 hrs he was paralyzed from the neck down. He was diagnosed with ( i cant spell it correctly ) it is pronounced  geron beray syndrome. The specialist there said this it is brought on by GETTING FLU SHOTS and that was the first question they asked!!! It Took him over a year to learn how to walk  again and many long agonizing day of laying there helpless...NOPE I WILL NEVER GET A FLU SHOT!!!!!

I got my first one a few weeks ago.

My husband was really nagging me to get it, but that's cause he is a pediatrician and if I get sick and he gets sick he can't work around the kids (right now he is in NICU so getting a neonate sick with flu is just a death sentence on top of their potentially critical issues)

I got mine at my school. I just happened to be walking by and the student nurse program were giving them for free for volunteer hours for the nursing students.

I am terrified of needles and thought an IM injection would hurt, but nope. Didn't even feel it. My arm was a little sore and I was fine beyond that.

I'll probably get my flu shot every year now that I know it doesn't hurt lol.

Guillain Barre, is how it's spelled.  Google it and you can find the statistics for the number of cases--it's a well-known, very serious but relatively rare risk that you don't see brought up very often in the ad campaigns.  I think the first swine flu vax in the 70s was taken off the market because the incidence of this was way higher with that one for some reason.
