SMZ's that you give horses can be very effective treating UTI's!  and 5 days?  that doctor is on crank!  nothing will clear up a UTI in 5 days, you need at LEAST 10 days but 2 full weeks is best and take them for the full 2 weeks, even after you feel better.
1 pill twice daily... with LOTS OF WATER!   if you take 2 right off the bat, it will help greatly with the pain....
Have you changed soaps, detergents or anything lately? 
Please do not self administer antibiotics as the bacteria may not be sensitive to it, or if you are not on the antibiotic long enough you will be contributing to antibiotic resistant organisms.
 Im simply saying what worked for me and I know it works as it was prescribed by a dr once... it just saves me a trip in and taking off work... I self admin what has worked for me. I have taken several over the years that didnt work that i ended up allergic to ( those were prescribed for me btw) UT I suck! And i sure hope u have gotten relief by now! Cranberry juice, pills, yogurt none of that ever worked for me. But it could b ur laundry soap, bath soap causing this as i found it was for me... hopefully u got answers and relief. And the biggest thing is to take ur antibiotics till they r gone
