| I just bought back my mare and she is in her eary 20's and still running strong and in great condition! She has a sway back and all my pads seem to leave dry spots by the withers. Shes about 14.2 and pretty short backed. Been looking at "bridging pads" and just dont think they would feel all that great under a pad or may slip. Looking for suggestions! Ive seen the video for the CSI and the pads that can be added to them to help with this but can not find any real reviews. I am not interested in any "tacky bottom pads"!

Location: Opelousas, LA | I would go with a CSI, may not completely fill in the sway in the middle but it will help distribute the pressure at the front and back. You can shim if you need to but if your saddle is a decent fit you may not have to. |

I second the Oxbow. I'm a die hard Saddleright fan but, I got in a very high withered guy with some sway a while back and the Saddleright just wasn't doing it for me. I put the Oxbow on him and it was perfect. No dry spots. |

Location: between here and there | From your description, it's you saddle not fitting and resting on the shoulder or just behind it. I would check that first and foremost then work on a pad if she has dropped as in a sway, she would be bridging and the saddle would be resting on the 4 corners of the horses back. |

| Thanks for the suggestions!! Saddle fits her great, its just with the pads I have tried, it is not sitting correct on her. I used a 1" Todd Slone on her today and there were no dry spots but the pad is to long. It will work until I find a new one for her!! |

| I was riding a horse with a pretty significant sway back and the best I could do was to get a bridge pad made by Tucker to fit on top of my regular pad. The proble with most of the pads mentioned is that they are just as thick at the shoulder area which causes problems (or did for me) I needed one that was thin at the shoulders, but built up ONLY BEHIND the shoulder. |

Location: OK | There is a pad that is thicker in the middle than over the shoulder area just for sway back horses. Reinsman makes it. |

I have a brand new one if anyone is interested. |

| Do the Oxbow pads have enough padding in the center for sway back? I think I need something for bridging. Are the Reinsman pads tacky? |

| Reinsman also makes one with a fleece underside. I have both. They are OK. I'm wondering about Cavallo pads also. I thought they made a sway back pad as well. |

Location: Heart of Texas | You might want to try a wither relief pad before spending hundreds on new pads. I got one for $17 at my feed store. Works GREAT!. Goes between the pad and your saddle. No slipping. Place right behind the shoulder blade. Sheri Cervi has a video if you need more instructions or information. |

Location: Kansas City, MO | Our pads have the inserts that you can take in and out and adjust the fit. If you need more or less build up in certain areas. They make it more of a custom fit for the horse. We leave the spine open so it can conform to the horses back. We sell the inserts seperatley too so if you need to if your horses back changes over time you can just adjust the inserts instead of having to replace the pad. Happy to answer any questions if you want to give us a call. We have a short video of them on our facebook page too. www.orthoequine.com |
