I'm that girls who always drove the "crappy" rig at shows and I loved it. Recently we've gotten to upgrade but my "new to me" super "fancy trailer to me" is still well below what others drive. However, I learned many times never let your head get big...

I went to a show up in the boondox, bunch of guys in roping saddles and was thinking... well I was being snotty. I had great runs all day but those boys kicked my butt around the block all day!

Then I remembered one of those guys were in our Calcutta years ago at championships... and his friends bought him for $20 and he won the who dang thing. Horses sold for as much as $400 and they didn't see a dime.

Love this!!! I'm tired of the attitudes of a lot of fello barrel racers. Couple of years ago I was at a local race and had seen a new lady show up and she stopped me after I smiled and said hello. She said it was her second time to attend one of their races and out of all the people there (over 120 in open) I was the only person to say hello to them! It's not only talking about people or bullying them, wake up and welcome them! It's not hard to smile or say hello! Kudos to Fallon!

The ones who usually drive the older truck and rig are usually the nicest/friendliest people at the race. I've never judged anyone by what they have.

I'm the one in the nearly 10yo 1/2 ton truck with the 15yo bumper pull that is missing most of its paint.  I can afford better but I just don't care.  I always said I wasn't going to pull a trailer that was worth more than the horse inside of it.  Well now just one of the horses I haul is worth way more than what I paid for this trailer, not to mention what they are worth all added together.  My non-horsey husband just told me he was getting my trailer painted for my birthday because it was so ugly.  It just isn't a priority for me.  I brought three horses to the last race... one should have won the 2D, one could have won the 3D, one could have won the 4D.  End of the day...  all 3 of them ran in the 3D.  Hmmmmm, maybe it is the rider????  I'm one of those old folks that came from the playday ranks where we all yelled.  I try it now and my peeps I'm sitting with start moving over.  Oh well, I'll keep doing what makes me feel happy and hope I bring a little sunshine to someone else's day.  Well said Fallon.

What a wonderful post.  Up until my divorce I had a fancy 3 horse 4Star living quarter trailer.  I had a nice 3 horse 4Star that I used for the closer barrel races and going to the vet.  My ex told me if I divorced him he would get my trailers.  Well I knew he would do it but that was not that important to me.  I have a stock trailer that is the 56th trailer that Gooseneck company made.  I am going to have it painted and be proud to pull it with my 10 year old truck.  Can I buy another fancy trailer.....yes.  But like previous posters it is not a priority for me.  In years past I have hauled some really nice barrel horses in that went on to win a bunch in that old stock trailer.  I doubt that anyone can deny what a "player" June Holeman has been for the barrel racing industry.  Remember when she hit the road to quality for the NFR driving an old ambulance?  I hope more people could be understanding of people and their circumstances.  Also if I remember correctly Charmayne and her rig and tack seemed quite commical to lots.  Who knows where our next world champion will come from.

What a great post!!! This sport isn't about who.has the fastest horse, the coolest tack, or the best truck and trailer. It's about becoming better horsemen, good sportsmanship, and making relationships. I see way too many people that get caught up in being cool and having the best and with that comes an arrogance and the real purpose is forgotten. Hard times and hard horses make the best people and the best horsemen. The folks that deal with those two things are the ones that stay humble and stay real and know how to encourage.

We like to talk about how snoddy the AQHA breed shows are and pleasure folks but barrel folks can be just as bad any day. If we're going to keep the sport alive we've got to learn to encourage everyone.

I believe this is a really nice, encouraging quote although I do not support Fallon in anyway due some of her actions harming animals in the name of money. Still, it was a nice post, I'll give her that.
