Location: Oklahoma | rachellyn80 - 2014-11-06 1:56 PM Where do you live? I have a 14.5" ProMax. It's on a 15" tree, but padded to be 14.5". I ordered it new from Charon and she helped me decide what size to get based on my height, weight, and build....and preferences. I like having a little room in my saddle. I mostly exercise mine in a ranch cutter so a snug barrel saddle feels too confining.
East of McAlester! I'm used to a 15", but I've been told numerous times I should be a 14" or 14.5" and I think that's the real reason I don't feel so pitched forward in my Crown C... because I'm sitting further back than most people do in them. I can do a 14" Double J, but the 14.5" feels so much better to me. I'm not clausterphobic, but I see some people with no room left in their seats and I just can't do that.
Thanks, STXPG.. that makes me feel a little bit better! I guess if I found one and had it lowered maybe I can add padding for to help offset the extra space! |

I had ordered a high rise, bought a used one with a medium rise for another horse and changed my high rise to a medium. These saddles sit you so well I did not did the high rise. So if I bought a used high rise they could lower it for me? Can they raise lower ones?
Yes, I tried one when they were at Diamonds and Dirt and it took about 15 minutes for them to adjust one to a high rise for me. I think it is just a matter of adding/removing padding in the seat. They are very helpful, I would definitely give them a call to verify it can be done on any of thier saddles. |

I found a lady last night that was kind enough to let me try one of her Caldwells on my gelding that I've been having a heck of a time fitting.... and it fit! I would love to be able to buy a brand new one (or even a lightly used one),but I just don't have the extra money for it. Especially when it's a horse I'm not even sure I'll get back to running. But I probably wouldn't sell the saddle, either.
So how do I go about finding them? I couldn't find any on ebay and the one that's here on BHW is a seat size too big. Do I just diligently stalk BHW ads, or would Charon maybe know of some? I'm looking for a ProMax... are those hard to find? It sounds like people would hang on to them since they are the middle of the road in QH size.
Sent you a PM. |

| I agree they are really hard to find. I am trying to find a 2XL so I don't have order one but since they aren't very common yet it is pretty much impossible to find one. BHW is probably the best place I have found to look but every once in a while they are on facebook. There are 3 different barrel saddles for sale sites that they are listed on. |

Location: Red Raiderland | Longneck, I have a high rise ProMax 15". If you are in Waco for the Elite next weekend let me know and you can give it a try. Rachellyn, I have a 14.5 high rise Rocket and by the first part of January I will have my new 15" high rise Rocket. If you are going to BBR (I know it's a while from now) you are always welcome to give it a spin. |

I appreciate the kind offer, but no Waco for me!! I'll just keep adding all those nice races to my bucket list for when my gelding is going again! |

| There are 3 different sites I have gone to. I think two are named the same "Barrel Saddles for sale" and the other one is "Used Barrel Saddles for Sale". The Used and one of the other ones you can do a search for caldwells but it is pretty hit and miss to find them. There is a 14" Caldwell Maxxed Out for sale on Western Farm and Ranch right now but that is the only one I have ever seen posted on there. |
