| We might be relocating to Utah from Southern CA, I was wondering about the overall culture there and if anyone knows how the barrel racing (and team roping for my husband is) in that area or close by. I know that Southern UT offers a lot as far as barrel races and roping...but not sure about Ogden. Thanks! |

Location: Idahome | I love northern UT! Not sure about the roping, but they have lots of barrel racing. Their weekly races will draw in over 100 entries every week and it makes me jealous. Ogden is beautiful, but can be cold in winter. |

Location: Randolph, Utah | Ogden is a great area for barrel racers! In the summer there are races almost every Wednesday night in ogden or close by, there is the dash for dollars in June that is a great race, and you're close to Heber city, and south Jordan. There are quite a few team ropings too. |

| I relocated to Ogden last year from Southern NV. During the winter there werent many barrel races. There is a winter rodeo series once a month at the county fairgrounds (indoor arena) - after slack during the rodeo series there is usually a barrel racing jackpot for anyone to enter. There are probably 1-2 ropings a month during the winter at the fairgrounds. During the summer there are plenty of both barrel races, ropings, and rodeos during the week and weekends. You wont be bored!!!
Of course any place you go will have their "clicks". I felt up here people were more welcoming than other places Ive been. Even Utah in general is really friendly! lol |

| Ogden is the center of horse stuff in Utah. More happening there than all the other places in utah combined. http://allhorseutah.com/ this link is usually a good source of information on those events. |

Location: Buffalo, Wyoming | Ditto to what everyone else is saying. I am from a little town out side of Ogden called Plain City and miss being over there. I now live in Northeast Wyoming and we have nothing compared to what I am used to as far as barrel races, rodeos and ropings.
In Ogden you can hit everything in Utah, plus Souther Idaho and Wyoming plus Nevada. Can not go wrong over there. |

| Okay, thanks, guys! Now to get the ball in motion!
Whoever said that I will need a lot of $$...I might just have it. I currently live in SoCal and while I enjoy the weather, the cost of living (and hay) is RIDICULOUS! After doing some calculations I could make $10k less in Utah and still have the same lifestyle. |

Location: Utah | Like all the others I will say Ogden is a great area for Barrels and Team Roping. Here are some websites for northern Utah. You will also be close to Southern Idaho.

| Thanks, y'all!!! Now, where is a good area to live and keep my horses? My husband and I live in a residential/agricultural neighborhood, I'm totally open to living in something more rural...but i will never go back to living in an apartment.
We will be renting for a few years before we are able to buy. |

| I'd be looking out toward Warren or Place City area. Close to the city but still a very small town feel. |

| If you want horse property good areas are Hooper, Roy, Farr West, West Haven, West Warren, Plain City, South Weber. Rental horse property can start around $1,100 and go up (I pay around $1200 and have little over an acre). I dont know of any boarding facilities or their cost - I know there are some, but I haven't needed to look into it. |
