Knowing that this purchase is a "big deal" in the barrel community I would imagine if this young man needs any help they will seek someone special out.  I keep posting on this and I guess I need to quit, as I see it it really is none of our business anyway.

DunIt - 2014-11-19 7:03 AM Everybody get your panties out of a twist. I wasnt bad mouthing the kids riding. Hell I dont even know him and google doesnt show anything on him as far as barrel racing goes.  Im just saying that if I spent 87K on a potential futurity colt, I would have him with someone that has a PROVEN futurity record.  Yes I understand that they paid for him and they can do whatever they want to with him, I was just making a statment. Not attacking anyones credentials.
Proven doesn't mean it's in the best interest of the horse. Sounds like the horse is in very capable hands.
^^^^^^^^^^This.  Just common sense.
^^^^ THIS................there are a LOT of "proven" futurity trainers that I would not let touch MY horse with a 10' pole.....
While I agree with your post about "proven" futurity trainers most of you have never seen this kid ride or "train" a horse. I don't know him personally but have seen him ride. Yes he works for Harrison Ranch but has not been there that long. They are known for roping and cow horses. Their previous trainer showed some in barrels and did pretty good but they are not known for barrel horses. I am very excited to see that they purchased this colt and I actually am surprised that he is going to be started by someone with so little experience. No I am not bad mouthing him just surprised by their decision. Yes it is THEIR decision but I would love to see them campaign and get that colt in more experienced hands. Of course, I have seen first timers win some of the big futurities. Good luck to Harrison Ranches and hope this colt has a very bright future. I would love to see them really get into the barrel horse business. Especially since they are so close.
Training a rope horse that can earn AQHA points isn't a simple act of just roping one and turning it off. They have each step figured out to a science and what looks good. Why do you think JD Yates and Jay Wadhams pick showing AQHA over rodeoing? They make more money being successful at AQHA. Likewise they dont take their show horses to the NFR when it's all about being fast. Training a barrel horse is easy if you have common sense and horsemanship. Judging by your comment, you don't seem to want to give this kid much credit for what he has done. I'd never bet against a successful AQHA show person not being able to turn out a great barrel horse if they decide to. No, I don't know this guy that will be training the horse. But he obviously has talent to be in the position he is and to be trusted with high caliber horses.
Why do u think he trained those roping horses??? Like I said he just started working there ! There was another family that trained and worked there for as long as I remember! They trained those roping horses. I did not say he couldn't just surprised!

Tyler has worked for the Harrison's for approximately 2 years.  Jesse and his daughter Becky, the managers prior to Tyler trained the roping horses.  Tyler is a great, talented young adult,  he will make decisions in the best interest of this horse's career.  Tyler may lack futurity experience, but he can ride and he has a great head on his shoulders and will seek advice/help if or when it is needed.  He has trained some great young horses, I have watched him for years, he has the ability to campaign this horse.  On a side note, he may 22, not 20, still a young kid with a great opportunity and future ahead of him.  I am so happy for him and I wish Tyler all the best of luck.

Tyler runs at Wrapn3 races and his horse are always solid and work great......he seems to have a really quiet smooth style and his horses look like a million bucks. I would let him ride one of mine.  He doesnt man handle one and it looks like anyone could ride behind him.  He also has a great mentor that he rides with so if this horse has ability I am sure it will get its chance to shine.

Tyler does have an "in" with a very good hand he used to work for prior to going to Harrison Ranch.. I've spoken with him and he's very capable of making decisions with this new colt.. Granted he doesnt have a futurity resume but once nobody knew that little blonde haired girl on that bay geld from New Mexico either... I look forward to seeing Bugatti shine and hope he walks tall in those shoes like his big brother!
