Total Germophobe Posts: 6443 Location: Montana	My reasoning is if you start to slow down after a knocked barrel, it creates a bad habit and the horse will start to hit barrels so it won't have to work as hard. Just my opinion.

My mare is smart enough to know that if she knocks then she doesn't gonna be asked to really run. It can start a bad habit. Just watch warm ups some time and see the horses reaction when they tip one over in practice. That horse knows that they are gonna get schooled typically.

Oh, I'm sure some of them do it to "punish" the horse, but most likely it's either to see what time you would get, or to keep the horse going so they know they have keep working no matter what.
