With standing bandages, you don't wrap the fetlock. Standing bandages are to support the tendon structures during stalling or hauling VS the wrap you do with polos for riding. |

Is there a reason why you couldn't use polo wraps over the sheet cotton instead of standing wraps for an injury? |

Location: Texas | Polo wraps are easy to over tighten if you stretch/pull. Standing wraps don't have much give/stretch. Also, polos would be really thick over quilts. They may not stay in place as well either because they are a bit stretchy.
Edited to say that I agreed with the OP that this is not how I prefer to wrap polos. Fallon Taylor has a good video that shows how to wrap to support that fetlock

Yes I do realize that.......in this video she is wrapping the polos like a standing wrap and saying its for when you want to ride. You need to protect the suspensory for riding. She isn't doing that with how she wrapped the polos. |

Location: Woodstown, NJ | Yes, that makes sense Tracies. Polos would wind up being very bulky.
What about using vet wrap instead of standing wraps? My vet actually sent me home with my horse's injury (suspensory) wrapped in sheet cotton and vet wrap. I have a case of vet wrap here. And a dozen polos which I now know I should not use. But should I go out and get the standing wraps or is there any reason I shouldn't continue with the vet wrap? Thanks! |

| Vet wrap works good if you are wanting it to stay on for a few days, like for an injury. When wraping with Vet Wrap keep in mind that it will shrink up some after you have applied it so don't pull it tight. If you are going over some padding then that will help absorb some of the tightness. |
