Location: South Central Florida | I have a true laser by Respond that I love. I also have a CEFCO which is actually LED, but works well for some things. Actually maybe better on open wounds.
The Respond was about $5K
The CEFCO was about $1.5K
big price difference, both have held up great but my CEFCO needs a new battery, they are both about 6 years old.

Location: Bastrop, Texas | I would suggest there are hundreds of better things to spend thousands of dollars on.....if you want to throw money away, then be my guest. This has been fairly extensively evaluated, and there is weak evidence to suggest it may have a beneficial effect in brief, temporary relief of pain in certain circumstances. If you want an exhaustive list of references, I can provide it.

Location: OK | I bought a used McLaren torch for very little. $200 I think. I was curious and I like to experiment. I do absolutely see a horse react to it sometimes. It's not imagined, it's not flies. I try to stay open minded about this kind of stuff. While I do see a reaction, I'm not sure how beneficial it actually is. On the flip side of that, when a horse gets hurt, it's free to run the light over him, so I do it.
If nothing else, I've learned alot about accupuncture points, what they do, where they are, meridians, pain, etc. etc. I now do believe in that. I just don't know exactly how much a light can stimulate them.
Buy one if you want to know. If you don't like it, sell it. |

Location: South Central Florida | So Doc, doesn't think I "threw my money away", both of my pieces of equipment were prizes that were won along with a gameready :) However, I did read 2 different studies done by the Mayo Clinic on people, discussing the benefits in the healing process. I can speak with only anicdotal experience that our horses have benefited from the treatments, but only with injuries. Several large and famous veterinary facilities also use them or did (it's been a while since we were at Weatherford) use them with and for treating several different injuries. I would have to look hard for the articals I read but I will tomorrow.
Magnets are another source though that many in the strictly medical field will guide people away from. I have not had success with regular magnets, but had a vet use a electric magnet blanket on my horse, it was like she was drugged, I never saw anything like it. I don't own any magnets but I know most scientific papers will say they don't work either.
I'm willing to give alternative treatments a chance, but I don't have the money to purchase a lot, I woudl not have these but as I said they were free ( :) ). Using the lasers very specifically on and with accupuncture points is the key and that is a science that has a great deal of research behind it (accupuncture). THOR is another brand I have looked at with interest but could not afford.

Location: 31 lengths farms | What is the BioScan considered?
All I know is with my mares kidney and bladder issue especially towards the end before we had the bladder stone removed, after having her BioScanned she would urinate 6-7 times that night where usually she only urinated 2 times and struggled to do so in an evening. And for about 3-4 days after that she urinated much easier also. It is one of the things I will keep up with for sure. After the ultrasounds and the blood tests came back the vets said whatever I was doing keep on doing it.

The body doesn't know the difference from laser or led once it has made it past the skin But light therapy is real and has a lot of documented research behind it especially wound healing
