| I have a double bred first down mare that I'm using as a broodmare I've had her for a couple of months now she is very sensitive but very very smart. I wish I could've gotten my hands on her as a young horse I'm dying to get on her but she's 10 now with little ride time. |

| I have 2 FDD grandsons and love them. They our out of same sire, different dams. Both smart but my 8 yr old is a little fractious. He's out of own daughter of Reckless Dash by TB mare. Went to track. Never broke his maiden but is a 1/2 d barrel horse. The 6 yr old is out of own daughter of Holland Ease and a Shawnee Bug mare. So he's actually double bred FDD. Absolutely nothing bothers him. He was rescue in March, not broke but is turning out to be so nice. Smart and athletic! |

Location: Kansas | I'm currently training & running this FDD horse - http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/royal+red+streaker Streak got his first taste of barrels in March, and though we took things pretty slowly until mid-May, he was clocking near the top of the 4D locally in mid-August. If he didn't struggle so much with the first barrel (he learns everything to the right slower), he'd be closer to the top of the 3D right now. This is probably his best run to date. http://youtu.be/NhPx1aJwbpY You can see we still have things to clean up, but he's getting things figured out and speed is not an issue. He almost doesn't realize how fast he was running when we stop. While I don't expect him to make a top rodeo horse (he does not understand shallow or shifty ground), I think he'll finish out as a nice 2D/3D jackpot horse that anyone can ride, and that's valuable in itself. I will add that he learns through repetition, and you better do things right the first couple times or you'll spend a lot of time retraining. He ran on the track and seems to like routines. If I get on and head the "wrong" way from the trailer, he'll act a little confused. I think a lot of his little quirks are from being on the track as a youngster. He refuses to drink out of our concrete automatic waterer, so we have to keep a tub out for him year-round. I have spent months trying to convince my dad that it's just the way he is, and now Dad is finally filling Streak's tub every day. :) For a horse with so much speed on his papers, he actually did all right at the county fair in western pleasure, horsemanship and showmanship with my youngest brother this summer, and I've used him for riding lessons this fall. He has proven to be a great confidence-builder for a third grade boy who'd never ridden before.....though we sometimes have had trouble getting Streak to move for him! LOL. |

Never had a DTF- but the ones I have seen sometimes battle lameness issues, maybe because alot are futuritied. I had 2 daughters of FDD (Sir Austin Duncan and A Classic Dash). I had 6 foals from them, every one of them dang sure had enough run, but a few couldn't care less about adding a turn in there anywhere- It just depends on what the DTF's and FDD's are crossed with- |

Location: Murphy NC | This is my FDD. She has plenty of run and really hunts a barrel. She's just getting going but is very athletic and shows a lot of promise.

DTF's use themselves so hard, that is why a lot of them end up getting sore or hurt. I have ridden several of them, all mares, and not a single one of them had any self preservation. They will run on heart. They are so athletic, and so fast, that they can do things that just shouldn't even be right. And sometimes that comes back to bite them. |
