So recently, my parents befriended an older race horse breeder, and we all took a trip out to see his broodmares, all of which were bred to the hilt and breathtaking. I notice a dark bay mare and a BIG chesnut mare and asked about them. He said, "oh I've just been using them as recip mares, but the bay is by Dashing Cleat and o/o a Six Fortunes mare and the chesnut is her daughter by Dashing Val." Needless to say, I was blown away by his "recip mares" and I approached him about leasing them for next season. He agreed and we sign a lease, so.... now I need opinions on who to breed these lovely girls to! Both are really big bodied, soggy built mares with good feet. The bay mare's head could be improved on and the chesnut's back is a little bit long, but not terrible. I'd prefer to breed to a Future Fortunes stud, but it's not necessary. Budget for both needs to be under $4500 or thereabouts. Here are their pedigrees:
Bay mare: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/ms+sparkling+fortune
Dashing Val mare: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/dixies+fortune

Thanks in advance!

Ohhh, Dashing Val and a Six Fortunes daughter produced Vals Fortune, one of the greatest horses that I have seen race. He won over a million and was amazing to watch. I still have a picture of him on my fridge.

Sooooo, if they were my mares, I'd throw more Streakin Six in the Dashing Val.

Dashing vals are know for being late to mentally mature, so I'd aim for something that is know for maturing early.  Because of the other thread on here has already mentioned it. Rene Dan Jets are know for that.  After all he won his first AQHA World Championship at age 3 I believe.

LRQHS, I'm just going to have to have you pick out all of my mare's baby daddies for next year. I pay in bad stories and good beer

And, the first time I saw him coming from the paddocks and walking in the post parade all you could see was he looked like he was twice as wide as all the other horses. I laughed to my Mom and said, "well, that's why he wins so much, the other horses jump out of his way when they see that train coming at them." I'd have gotten out of his way too.

It's funny that you say that, because I thought the same thing when I saw this Dashing Val mare! Her owner said that a lot of people bet on her because she was just SO huge and beautiful in the post parade, would break out on top..... and then would peter out after 150 yards. Let me see if I can get a picture of her to load.

ETA: I believe this is a pic of her as a two year old at Tulsa. The ol' man doesn't facebook too well LOL. Eddie Willis trained her.

Dashing Val stood 20 miles from my house before Mr. Darrel Henry bought him. I loved him. He was a really nice stallion. Mr. Darrel could tell you all about him. He's Dr Luv on here, but I hardly see him post anymore.

I can't find a good front picture of him. He sweeped three big races here in LA. 23 starts and 20 wins, 2 nds.

What is her name? We know Eddie very well.  And what is the man's name that owns her.

I've seen foals out of both Dashing Val and Dashing Cleat daughters. Both have thrown phenomenal foals! The oldest out of the Dashing Val daughter was exported to Italy and is a futurity $$ winner over there!

Since I am riding him and think he is one of the coolest things since sliced bread. Guys Piece ofthe Pie. He is also Future Fortunes enrolled for 2015. I'm taking my Special Leader and A Classic Dash mares to him for 2015 and maybe all 4 of mine the next year. He's the first Frenchman's Guy horse I have ever been on and I am impressed. His stud fee is really reasonable too $1000.
