Location: Willows, CA | For those fans of the horsemanship of Ray Hunt and Tom Dorrance who live in or near Texas, the "Legacy of Legends" event is moving to Ft Worth this year. This has been held in Las Vegas for the last four years, and this move will give horse people in Texas a chance to see this years event. The format is to bring only horsemen and women that worked directly with Ray or Tom, or both, together to demonstrate the relationship with the horse that they developed and taught. This is great watching for any horse person, and the demonstrations cover just about every discipline. The dates are March 6-8 at the W R Watt Arena at the Will Rogers Center in Ft Worth. I am honored to have been asked to do the nutrition part of this event. If you make it, please look me up when you are there. Money raised goes to scholarships for young riders. |

Location: Willows, CA | Ray Hunt was a big believer in the balance of growing a young horse to it's potential safely and maintaining a willing mind while doing so. Since starting colts was such a large part of his clinics, he appreciated the changes in attitude that the diet could have on two and three year olds. We talked often about this relationship, and how to make things safer for both the horse and the rider by, among other things, limiting starch and sugars in the ration. He was very aware of how this effected the horses that he got in the pen with. This will be the focus of my nutrition talks at the event. I had the good fortune to spend a lot of time discussing this topic with Ray in the evenings while talking about how the horses had progressed that day. Ray used every advantage that he could find to give the horse a "better deal", and he knew that diet could be one of them. |

Cost is $100 per day, or $250 for all three. There is a lot to see, and it will be worth every penny. Profits go to the scholarship fund.
