Phxbarrel - 2014-12-16 6:39 PM I've always done barrel horses here :P Me at 14 I think.

Do you happen to remember where this arena was?

It was in Flagstaff... Kind of in a forest area, but I don't remember the name of it. It's been well over 11 years now lol.

I showed saddlebreds and standardbreds from the time I was 4 till about 22. I was a world champion when I was 8. I also showed hunter jumpers when I was 15 -17 yrs old and I had reiners for a short time and now I have barrel horses and rope horses.

This is the only pic that I have on my phone of my saddlebred days. I have oh so many at home...

Thank you to everyone replying. This is so much fun. I myself started riding when I was 1 or 2 but started out with Tennessee walking horses, then American Saddle Breds, Hunter jumpers when I was 7 or 8, Western Pleasure when I was 10, cutting horses came when I was about 11-12, and barrel horses started early but I started on a Tennessee walking horse at a local saddle club. I did high school rodeo and during that time I showed cattle all over the country. LOVE showing cattle but sadly I am too old to do the junior shows any more, now I just travel around and help out at Denver, Kansas City, Louisville and anywhere else I am needed.
Horses have always been in my life and I have always had a trainer until I started riding barrel horses professionally. Weird. I think having a well rounded background in all disciplines of riding really helps with becoming a better horseman.

LOL, it's Fort Tuthill. That's what it looked like from the pictures. I live in Flagstaff. They still hold a gymkhana series there each year.

Been horsecrazy my whole life! Grew up around a race track, but got into barrel racing when I was about 10. The first two pictures were on my 4th birthday, riding around my aunt's good barrel horse. The last picture was my first race with him when I was 12; he had starting slowing down, and she handed him down to me. He was my first "real" barrel horse (not pony!), and I credit him with igniting my barrel racing fire.

MS2011 - 2014-12-17 10:03 AM Riding like a wild indian on the ranch and hunter/jumpers.  I got tired of only getting trophies and no $$$$, so I swapped to running barrels.  The top horse I showed in both hunters, he would go slow and look pretty....then change bridles, slap some boots on him and run around the jumper ring.  He was 14.3 and had a huge heart.

Are those some rust breeches I spy? I seriously am obsessed w/ rust breeches.
