Is this a complicated procedure requiring a super vet, or will your everyday equine practitioner generally be able to handle it?

I've found through history that some stuff is more complicated than others, and I'd rather just get it right the first time and load up with a high caliber boss of a vet where necessary. I'm also located in Texas, if anyone has any recommendations for vets that routinely do this for them. Thanks so much!

We haul to dr Kathy Brown working out of oakridge equine in OK, we are from MN. I have found every vet does it a little different as far as how they enter the area/joint. We've always had great success with Kathy. She blisters the whorlbone area, no steroids.

I agree  I have had some that claim to know what they are doing  and they dont' open ting points don't go in the right spot  or use the right mix.  Kathy Brown is worth the drive

Can someone message me Kathy's contact info? I have one with hip soreness after a bad fall at the 3rd and I have heard she is the best if it is the whorl bone. Thank you in advance.

After seeing bursa injections done, I would go with a vet that does a lot of injections. I use Dr. Tanner at Elgin Vet, I went in once and Dr. Tanner had an emergency and Dr. Brandon took over and he was great as well.

i think any injection carries a risk, so i would be inclined to go to the best injection vet around ...try to lower the risk

Dr. Tanner or Dr. Josh Harvey both do great on all injections.

Can anyone tell me how to get in contact with Kathy Brown DVM in OK. I know this thread is older, but trying to research Whorlbone and Dr Browns name keeps coming up here. Thank you!

I haven't been to KB in a long time but as far as I know, what she calls "whorl bone " injections is actually the pin bone (tuber ischii) located to the side of the tail.
the actual whorl bone of the trochanteric bursa within the hip. I would make sure you know what you're asking for before you go further.

Both injections are pretty simple, the  bursa is more difficult. Kathy usually injects with DMSO and b12. The bursa injection is usually cortisone.
